If you thought his moody was dreadful, you've obviously never been a Matt fan. Even an ex fan would know it was way above average.

It was a darn sight better than the original. I was around when the Moody Blues released 'Go Now' and then moved on to try and be a prog rock band, Most of us thought they were rather pretentious and tried a bit too hard to be 'meaningful'.

Were you ever a Matt fan OP?

The reason I ask is because I really haven't liked a lot of the material that he's been given and actually thought he was being set up for a fall.

However, his last song tonight was way and above the others on the show. He really finally sang something that showcased his type of voice and sold it tonight.

Everyone was average in comparison to that performance.

Actually, OP, my house is exactly the same.

There is no denying that Matt can sing, but as weeks have gone on, he's not the 'best' singer. He's alright.

None of us now want to vote for him, though we all thought we'd do so when it comes to finals.

Dunno - it feels like Matt doesn't need my vote to feed his ego and he'll only call me an ignorant **** if I don't vote. I guess he doesn't need my support and money to win as he thinks he's the worthy winner as it is.

Where is this arrogance that he thinks he's the best coming from?

Serious question BTW as I don't read the red tops.

Like the judges, some fm's are resorting to some weird, barmy, bizarre tactics to get the result they want.

I quoted the OP!

At least I didn't quote the bit about being a "pretentious tw*t". Was there any need for that? Really?

I would not worry too much about these tactics from FMs Cara, the more they try to pull Matt down (and Rebecca) the more you can see its just desperation tactics or trying to be fashionable by having a dig at the favourites to win.

To be honest, all the Wagner threads have kept this kind of stuff at bay for the past week, so Wagner is good for something after all.

I love threads like this, every negative comment I read about Matt inspires me to give him another vote. So thanks actually

A lot of bands at that time were the same (as was the fashion).

As for better than the original, well if Matt is remembered and working like Justin Heywood in 35 years time I will eat his stupid pretentious hat.

Typical x factor track, overproduced shouting at the end rubbish.

I think it's mostly coming from his comments about how Wagner shouldn't be in the contest when 'better singers' are going home, and he said it would be a 'f***ing joke' if he were up against Wagner in the final.

(I mean, I don't know how true the reports are, but if he really did say it, then it strikes me as an incredibly arrogant way to behave.)

I don't read the papers either and for the last few weeks I've been so dispondant about this program that I've not been on here to follow links or get into gossip and rumour.

There is something about him, and it is purely about my personal shit here, that when he hears the judges, he seems to not hear them. Does that make sense?

I did worry a few weeks in, but I can't remember why - sorry - but you asked!

Last week, the xtra factor outburst made my mind up. Who the F has any contestant to say they're there over any other?

Scuse me for making a long post:

There are 6 in my home. Me, hubby and 4 kids.

Child 2 doesn't care and asks for the 'best bits' which he'll youtube for fun.

Child 4 is 3 years old and is still waiting for Jamie Afro to make an appearance. He did love Jamie, hairdressers last week he asked for an afro. He's a puny, white, blonde thing.

Child 3 doesn't much care, loved Matt, but now can't stand him. No idea why but I'll ask.

Child 1 has been a Matt fan from day 1. He now, after tonight declared him rubbish and gives up. He 'gave up' after TreyC but still watched.

Hubby is one of those who pretends he doesn't watch, then argues the toss with me all weekend about XF. Tonight, having heard him say Matt is a deserving winner, he said he things Matt is a **** and he wouldn't vote for him.

Or maybe I'm just a Wagner fan with a torture device that works?

I would say accurate and truthful. This has been discussed by even members of the Public now on XF. It is very arrogant of people not to acknowledge what is blatantly obvious.

I'm a Yes fan myself, my other half was a BIG fan of the Moody Blues. We are now divorced of course.

'Pretentious' might not be the most accurate word to use, but it certainly doesn't mean that the hat doesn't exist.

The hat is keeping it real. Not pretentious or prententious () at all.
