But he just doesn't fit in. He might get the tweenies and the mums, but after a year or so they'll move back to Take That and Westlife.

I couldn't bear it if he lost out in the final, especially if it was against Wagner.

With Matt, he has been coming across as someone who thinks that they have a sense of entitlement.

He is just as lucky as anybody else to be there & he has no right to be mouthing off about other contestants in public.

I think the best outcome for Matt would be to finish in second place. God knows what Cowell would turn him into if he won the competition. Personally, I wasn't enamoured with either of his performances last night. I thought that the first song choice was terrible, not his fault admittedly, but the second song was awful. He seemed to shout and wail more than he actually sang it.

He has a really wide fan base actually, I know people supporting him from age 20-70, male and female

My feelings too. I really dislike his personality but love his singing at times. I also believe he will go the same way as other male winners after a year. It would be actually better for him not to win.

**** or not I want Matt in the final.. deserves to be there with the performances he's given.. should concentrate on commenting about himself rather than others.

Surely only someone biased could come up with that one.

It was absolutely beautiful, and his best performance since his very first audition.

I like Matt but I have been able to pick out his not so good moments. That wouldn't qualify in a year of Sundays.

On what are you basing that assumption? The fact that he was upset about his two friends going out whilst this year's joke contestant is still in?

He's right.

Has he claimed to be better than any of the others? No.

I don't: I'm just curious about how your voting habits are influenced.

matt you have lost it tbh”

I agree. Coming into the live shows my faves were Cher, Rebecca, Diva Fever, and Matt in that order. I then grew fond of John but they got rid of him I have been going off Matt and Rebecca as the weeks have gone on because they are getting worse (although I did like Rebecca's second song yday, much improved) week by week. Add to that the fact Matt is now slating other contestants to the press and making snide remarks on Xtra Factor... well, I'll vote for whoever is against him in the final... the smug CurrantT!

Perhaps it was the song then? I didn't like it very much at all. It was slow and self-indulgent. Also some of those notes were too much.

Contestants, plural?

He knew exactly what TXF was like before he auditioned, and he's exploiting it as a quick route to fame just as much as it's exploiting him, so he doesn't get to complain about other contestants being there - it's not like he's particularly making himself more credible by singing on a lowest-common-denominator entertainment show.”

Every single word of this.

I loved, loved, loved "singy" Matt. Pretty much every thing he did on the first 4 or 5 shows was awesome. In fact, his "Bleeding Love" has been my performance of the season (albeit it a spectacularly underwhelming season to date)

Then we were introduced to "talky" Matt. To entitled-I-deserve-to-win-this Matt. To have-a-go-at-Wagner-because-everyone-else-is-at-it Matt. To I'm-so-much-better-than-all-these-pretenders Matt and it was like a switch being turned off.

I think he has alienated a lot of actual voters too. He'll do well to make the final at this rate, as it is set to feature the inoffensive Rebecca, the pimped-to-the-rafters One Direction and The Chose One: Cher. And who knows how long Wagner's run could run?

excuse me peeps

whats all this about pretentious, arrogant, "acting like he won it" GOD

When, how did you jump to this conclusion? In what interview did he said all this??
Just because he was upset when he lost TWO friends in a row, your all over him???

your reading something into his personality what you perceive you see on the TV and read in the tabloid press.

none of you have ANYTHING to back up your stupid statement other than, its what you THINK you SEE on the screen.

This after every Record Label told those "pretentious tw*ts" (OP's words not mine) the Beatles that their style was not required.

Some might say, of course, that Matt is a better singer than John Lennon, who was mediocre at best, but that would be an opinion, of course, and not fact.

Actually, actually you have to start from somewhere and even the greatest started from the belief that they could make it as a singer/songwriter. Thank Goodness the Beatles and the like had that belief otherwise, well.......... we could have more Wagners.”

Comparing Matt to John Lennon is like comparing 1 direction to the beatles

Matt is a good singer by xfactor standards, and being on the show will get him fans but he could go the same way as the likes of Joe Mcelderry quite easily

He's in competition on TV, of course people will judge him on what they think they see! X-Factor has always been a personality contest more than a singing contest. It's no different to Big Brother in that aspect. It's even named after that 'indescribable' something that some people have and others don't. That comes from personality, charisma, and how you come across to others.

Some people may like Matt's personality, some people may not. For me he comes across as way too caught up in himself, and there's a certain lack of sincerity about him. It's harder to put your finger on than Katie, who is like insincerity made flesh, but there's something not right.

And for me, that lack of sincerity just means his whiny and overwrought singing style leaves me cold.

He hasn't acted as if he won it, he said he would like to win, and this is what they all want.

Can anyone explain what is so wrong in wanting to win the competition you entered? Should they pretend that they don't believe that they are good enough to win? How ridiculous.

Alright, picking on one contestant in particular. He has as much right to be there as any of the others, he's playing by the rules:

- he was put through auditions
- he was put through bootcamp
- he was picked in that gimmicky wildcard shenanigan
- he's still there because people vote for him

I think people should stop moaning about it and just vote for their favourite! A vote for anyone else is a vote against him afterall. It does make me giggle how people will bitch and moan about the outcome of something without even trying to counterbalance it. Much like when people who abstain from voting in the General then moan about who got elected.

Well said.

If Matt has a problem, he should take it up backstage with $imon Cowell & Louis Walsh.

It is not Matt's place to decide publically who he thinks should be there & who shouldn't.

All he needs to do is worry about himself & just sing.

It is TELEVISION.

What you perceive IS the entertainment. It may be right, it may be wrong, and at the end of the day it doesn't matter because it's just entertainment.
