Thoughts on Apprentice in other countries.
Does anyone know where I can watch Apprentice Australia and the first 2 series of Apprentice Ireland? I've already tried YouTube and RealityTVFan.org.
I've watched NZ and every USA series and love them all for different reasons, and am currently enjoying Ireland series 3 on YT. Of all the different Apprentice formats I've seen I would have to say the celebrity version in USA is my favourite so far. Any thoughts? |

The Irish version is an exact copy of the UK one, which I think was the right thing to do. Why mess with a winning format?

If anything the Irish one is a bit better because they put more emphasis on the boardroom, which I prefer.

Apprentice Ireland
The Irish version of the show has an extra component with a programme called 'at home' which shows the candidates at the house between tasks/boardrooms. Would anyone like to see that for the UK version?

Wow, really? I only saw the one Joan Rivers was in and I couldn't get into it at all. I just can't take the celebrities seriously.
![]() But the first celebrity season (season 7, the one before the one with Joan Rivers) was fantastic, IMO the best of the US seasons. |

Well... I really enjoy the UK version the best (though this years tasks feel a bit stale thanks to a real lack of variety). I definetly still prefer the tasks over the USA seasons since all too often with the american seasons, it feel like a lot of tasks come down to personal taste and not business acumen. Also the tasks ARE tougher in the UK version (I mean when promoting a burger in S3, one team got tickets for a holiday as a draw :P)
I really enjoyed the first few USA seasons (1-5) despite it sometimes feeling just far too long (S3 being the worst offender there). S6 also dragged its heels but the 'twists' tanked a lot of it and brought the winner as being the first person to win WITHOUT ever being project manager. The 'Martha Stewart' spinoff was okay but sometimes Martha seemed too twee in her decision making. Meanwhile I cant stand the celeb editions. Just no... Irish/Aus from what ive seen are okay but havent really watched all the way through one of them yet. |

The budget for US version must be enormous with all those massive brands taking part. The BBC just wouldn't be allowed to do that, but that's why I think our version is better. Its easy to come up with a flashy promotion with a budget of thousands. Smaller budgets mean you have to be more creative IMO.

![]() But it would make it a bit too "Big Brothery" and ultimately its not really what the show is supposed to be about. |

1.UK
2.AU 3.US - Normal 4.NZ 4.US - Celebrity 5.IE 6.US - Martha I agree that the UK version is harder that the US version. The UK version is much more of an all-round test of your business skills. There's maybe a bit too much focus on sales. But the US version has way too many marketing-related tasks. Some tasks were to write a song or a jingle, which have next to nothing to do about business. One could also compare the final tasks. In US seasons 1-5, it was organizing an event. In UK series 1-2, it was also about organizing an event, but the candidates had to come up with the actual event themselves. In UK series 5 they had to launch a new product, and they did everything: Product development, branding, marketing, making of a commercial, pricing, presentation, Q&A, etc. In US season 6, they only had to make a commercial. Even the junior apprentices in the UK faced a harder final task than the candidates in the atrocious US season 6. |

Only familiar with the US and the UK versions, and of the two I significantly prefer the UK one.
The US one feels very crude. Brash. Tacky. A little ugly - the music too melodramatic, quite poorly directed. The intro sequence looks more like something out of Dog the Bounty Hunter. Brilliant concept, though, and they invented the show, so I don't begrudge them. Without it, the UK version wouldn't exist at all. But our feels well-produced, and intelligent, and it's got more depth. Prettier, too. And the focus more staunchly business-based - the US one feels a tad more voyeuristic. So my heart lies with our version. Cracking show, though. All of 'em. |

I haven't seen any other versions apart from the US version, & i prefer the UK version. The US version is more or less advertisement or product placement, the UK has more emphasis on the Business side, although the candidates seem more relaxed in the Boardroom in the US version, were as the Boardroom in the UK version is like going to see the Headmaster.

Not having seen it, I'd be concerned about balance. The more time spent in the boardroom, the less time on tasks, and with too little time spent on tasks we can't really assess what they say about them in the boardroom. It's one of the problems with the US show that the tasks are so edited that they lead you to a conclusion.
