When he did that spinning her around his neck thing. I thought that part of the routine at least looked good. But others on here are saying it was wrong and that he nearly dropped her!
Was that how the lift was meant to happen or was it very nearly an extremely nasty accident ?

Yes he nearly dropped her.

My view was that that final lift sequence nearly came to grief. I was surprised when the judges commented on how good it was.

Natalie at the end seem to breathe a huge sigh of relief and my interpretation of her actions just before they walked towards the judges was "eek that was scary".

I thought it at the time and having just watched it again, he doesn't look as if he knew what he was doing or where he was going throughout the whole routine. Natalie had to drag and push him in several parts of the dance. I do wonder if she'll allow him to lift her again whilst he's so out of it at the moment.

I noticed that Natalie's usual cheery showface slipped during the dance at that point and that's what alerted me to the lift mistake.

I felt that the two 9's were given to shore up his position - just couldn't believe it

At best it looked very clumsy!

I thought it was a mistake as it was too fast, more suited to a jive bit maybe it was supposed to be like that.

I have to say they were both very brave continuing with the lift as Scott could hardly hold himself up at times during that routine, never mind Natalie!

I thought that before the lift when he bumped shoulders with Natalie, he wanted to stop, he said something to her and then she basically dragged him on around until the lift which the judges said was good, but I thought it looked a mess!
I think Scott is close to Quitting!
I noticed Matt 's said to Len , was "got through it as you said to Scott.." Is he getting a bit fed up with the obvious favoritism towards Scott?

Scott's AS was a complete car crash last night. He tripped over Natalie's feet at the start and then had to be hauled around by her just to finish the dance. She was really lucky he didn't drop her. 2 x 9s - you're having a laugh!

When he lifted her around his neck,it seemed that he lost his balance, but brave of them to manage and finish it beautifully. I actually liked that lift and spin. It is a shame that Scott was blanked because it was a beautiful routine. But still i think it doesn't seem to be that messed up as some people make out.

How he got the marks he did for that mess of a dance beggars belief.

I agree. And I usually love his dances. It was a car crash. But then, the scores were all over the place all night...

when i read comments before watching their dance,i thought it was lot of mess. So i was so nervous to watch it (since they are one of my favorites) and then watched very fast, then got some guts and watched it again and again. I thought it was ok. I'm not telling this since they are my favorites. It was not that bad,i mean Scott really forgot the steps, but Natalie managed to cover it up most of the time. While reading the comments i thought that he just quited or stood without doing anything. He stumbled in 1st half and then forgot few steps in 2nd half, but still not that bad. I have to say they are obviously overmarked, but still it was a beautiful routine imo.

It was the most uncomfortable dance to watch last night imo.

The bits he got right were beautiful, but that doesn't make up for the fact that at least half of the dance was a complete shambles.

Hun, I really really appreciate your support of Scott and Natalie, but it was that bad, nonestly it was, having to be dragged into position by your neck by your dance partner is not a good sign.

It really was that bad and it just gets worse the more you view it.

I see what you mean, but may be i'm just defending them and want Scott not to be knocked up because of this and come back with powerful performances. If it was worked, they would have been in the top of the leaderboard, thats what i meant as beautiful routine, but obviously didn't work. I think Scott really need to ask for a break from EE producers if he wants to win.

I don't understand the EE producers - both EE and SCD are BBC shows, so if one guy is involved in both, reorganise the shooting of the scenes so that Scott is done by the middle of the week, to leave him energy for dancing - these scenes are done out of order anyway, and the moment Scott signed the contract, it would have been easy for the writers to have given his character a break or a tiny set of walk-on parts.

Why make his days so long? Other TV bods have either had early but short interview slots. Hanging around all day in makeup is just as tiring as acting in makeup.
Just can't understand the BBC at all. Talk about left and right hands / feet never meeting.

I understand hun, I really do, but you have to judge what it is, not what it could be. If we're going to use that yardstick then Ann would be getting 9s because the routine COULD be fantastic if a totally different person danced her routine.

I know I'm being flippant, but it was terrible and needed to be judged that way. You can't tell me Scott doesn't know that it was truly awful and so he probably feels way worse because he know the judges gave him pity marks.

He has been fine with Craig's low scores for some of his routines, so I think he would have been fine with realistic scores. I guess he's just feeling really embarassed now and wouldn't want scores he didn't earn.

EE could really give him a break. Sometimes they don't even use lot of actors for months and concentrating on only two or three storylines. I don't know why he is tough scheduled. Anyhow we don't know whether he asked for a break or not,do we?

Thank God. You have added if totally different person danced. Otherwise for a second,i would have imagined you really thought Ann could dance. lol.

I don't like overmarking for favorites. I don't want my favorite to win like that. Craig is the only one seems to be fair on marking and giving comments. I'm sure that Scott could take the criticism on board and try to improve himself. Very embarrasing for them as you said. I also think they should point out his mistakes every week, because he seems to be a guy who likes challenges and works hard. We saw him giving powerful performance after a bad week and low score,so i don't like this overmarking rubbish and do them no favour at all.

Scott's not my fave but I felt bad for him last night, because he is generally much better than that. I agree, it looked like he was gonna drop poor Natalie! Actually, it looked a bit like he just decided to throw the lifts in at the last minute without warning her!

I've watched it again and apart from cringeing anew at the missed steps and flailing arms (he really didn't have a clue what he was supposed to do next, did he?), I still can't tell if that lift was meant to be like that or whether it was fluffed.

It would be very interesting to see what it looked like in rehearsal to compare the two. I mean, last week when Gavin was explaining on ITT why he nearly dropped Katya (the dress material was slippy, apparently), they showed rehearsal footage against the show clip to demonstrate that he could do the lift. Would be nice to see them do something similar re Scott's dance.

Even Natalie, pro that she is, couldn't hide her alarm at what was going on! Such a shame.
