Time to sort the judges out.

Some of last night's voting was bizarre.
Overmarking for Kara,Scott and Pam by three of the judges was ridiculous.
Kara and Scott admitted they were not so good and poor old Pam was all over the place but still to Aleesha and the ever more ludicrous Bruno they were brilliant.
Only Craig maintains a touch with the reality of "daarrncing".
It's definitely time to review whether or not Len,Aleesha, and nutty Bruno are ready to leave with Bruce at the end of this
years shows.

I agree, the overmarking of She Who Must Not Be Named and Gavin was outrageous!

The scoring was bizarre.

But the judges are part of the 'show'.

The foremost requirement of judges is that they should be entertaining. They are not there to mark a dance competition.

A judge who is 'fun' for the public to watch, is far more useful to the show, than someone who makes some technical pronouncements about the dance, in a manner which is dull or pedantic.

Craig has his caustic wit, Len has his stupid old anecdotes, and Alesha is the eye candy and technical expert.

Someone like Karen Hardy, may be knowledgable, but would NOT be a good 'judge' in terms of making the show entertaining.

The only sad thing about it is that it no longer rewards a really good performance. Everyone gets 10s these days. 'Pity' points. I'd be ashamed to get these worthless tens.

They have dumbed down the show.........it will kill it

Totally agree with the OP. Len, Alesha and Bruno need to go after this latest fiasco – and it would also save Len and Bruno jetting back and forth from the US (DWTS can keep them). They are clearly not marking the performance on the night and are therefore not doing their job properly.

I think Karen Hardy would make a good replacement judge. Anybody got any other suggestions?

I don't know where Arlene's fans were when these forums were bashing her a couple of years ago. I would be happy for ANY professional dancer to judge the competition regardless of age or gender. This present panel seems to think they are bigger than the show, although I do have time for Craig. Bruno however, seems to have joined the looney toons gang, entertaining though he is, he is neither consistent nor rational in his marking.

Isn't going to happen!!

I think the next judge will be Ian Waite, who stands in for Len on the Tour when he (Len) is away

Good choice. Knowledgeable/personable.

Everyone receives a bashing on here. I like Arlene and thought she was a good judge.

Len is a bit of a joke as a judge now. Alesha and Bruno are total morons. I definitely think they should go.

If the judges are contriving to make Matt's win less crushingly obvious then they're doing their job perfectly.

Ooh, I didn't know that. I certainly enjoy his comments during the midweek training reports. Yes, Ian would make a good judge, witty without being unecessarily unkind.

Agree. It is possible to be both entertaining and still judge reasonably and consistently.

Craig still fits the bill for me as well. Alesha doesn't convince me on any level - she looks nice but doesn't display real personality nor consistent appraisal of the dancing.

Both Len and Bruno are well past their "sell by date" for me.

This is where I think they could learn something from Dancing on Ice...i.e. the "required elements" of each dance need to be highlighted as a reminder to judges and viewers BEFORE each one takes place - e.g. AS is based on Waltz or Foxtrot, percentage of time needed in hold, require to see kicks and flicks in the jive etc. - then the judges mark with those in mind, the viewers can still choose to reflect or overlook that in the voting.

I've read somewhere that Karen doesn't want the gig.

Pam was not poor or all over the place. Her Charleston was the highlight of the show.

I am sure the three male judges will be back next year.

Depends on the show you feel is right
Len has forgotten he is the "strictly dance" judge and is past the sell by date
Craig fine by me although at times he has to pretend to be a ballroom knowledgable judge
Alesha lost without authority or anything beyond the bland should never have been a judge
Bruno yes knows show dance and surpisingly knowledgable of other dance areas and does blend the manic with reasonable knowledge
Ian for me and one of the "retired" female dancers
