I felt sorry for Louis when he gave his comments there - he's right, YASB isnt a rock song, and just because Joe Cocker sang it doesnt make it a rock song Simon
They (1D) certainly didnt sing it as a rock song.
Simon is such a plank at times.

I agree. Simon looked like a complete plank when he said that.

I think Simone thinks he's being hilariously funny when he stares blankly at any judge (Louise in particular) when they pick him up on a rule-break.

He looks at them as if to say "Do I give a shit? I'm Simon Cowell. I can do whatever I want. Now shut up or else I'll throw you off the show"

I don't find it funny at all. It stinks to me. It's one rule for him (and whatever judge he's favouring that week...usually Cheryl) and one rule for the others.

What happened to you, Simon?

I can do whatever I want, I'm Simon Cowell *twirls imaginary villains moustache*
Surprised they didnt say anything about Rebecca either - I know its her style and thats her voice, but re arranging the U2 song so it sounded like M People/piano bar music was just wrong Satisfaction wasnt much better either.
She looked hot during Satisfaction though
Still, with both acts being popular with the judges what does it matter?

Louis is more of a plank for stating at the beginning of the VT that this is such a GREAT rock song and hope the boys pull it off!!!

Make your mind up Louis or did the producers put that in when you were referring to summer of 69?

It might have been sang by a rock singer, but that doesn't make it a rock song. You need to do YOUR homework,Simon. And what was the point in having Niall and Louis on the stage for this performance, they didn't even sing! All they did was stand behind their microphones, trying to look soulful.

I'm not a massive admirer of Mr Walsh, but I do always agree with him when he gets out his rule book. I also get peeved that Dermot feels the need to chip in as well.

What on earth is the point in having a theme if people don't stick to it?

I often think the theme is chosen to favour a particular act too - not often mentioned in the previous week's show like it used to be.

I have an imaginary scenario in my head:
Wands: We fancy doing this song this week Mr Cowell
SC (on the phone from USA): ok lads, I'll make it a theme week and that will fit nicely.

Cue all other mentors/judges trying to find songs that fit the theme for their acts.

Mmm.

Song 1 = ~10 secs vocals you could hear, then handed over to the backing track for the 27th time in a row.

Song 2 = Simon's Prove-They-Can-Really-Sing[tm] spin beforehand wasn't an especially good idea when two very clearly didn't - still it made a change from it being impossible to tell whether anyone was singing.
