"The Group Behind it..."

You make it sound like they're the Baader-Meinhof gang or something!

Indeed. Maybe it would actually be good for the show ultimately, as the one thing it MIGHT achieve is no joke acts going through and less good acts going home before the lives.

Whatever happens, I do not see a dip in viewing figures happening next year simply because Wagner wins this year. For a start a year is a long time and who worries about what happened the year before? Most posts bemoaning things that have happened in other years are just using them as a comparison to whats happening now.

People who voted for their acts this year would not bother next year. what would be the point if these idiots are just voting to make a statement. i wouldn`t watch it again. my family have already stopped watching.”

So what if they do, who cares! What are you so worried about.

I don't get this at all, if you don't like X Factor or Cowell don't watch it, simple, it doesn't have to be a part of your life it's quite easy to just not watch or read anything about it.

RATM is NOT behind the Wagner campaign- they are fed up of being associated with it- and that's straight from Tracey and Jon Mortimer's mouths.

You mean "quoted because I don't actually realise why people vote for Wagner so I'll just blame it on people not liking Simon Cowell because that's easier."

Baader-Meinhof gang, you're giving away your age now!!!! They were about the time of The Beatles in the 60's

It's OK, Lizzy has great difficulty grasping this. Many others have tried before you.

Nope the Morter RATM group have nothing to do with it.

Its the Rage Against The X Factor group - they're all about trolling the show.

And VoteForTheWorst are behind it as well.

this is what I don't understand .. it's not like whether there's an X Factor or not is going to affect anyone's lives .. it's just a TV show ... I also don;t understand some people strong desire to p*ss off someone who they don;t even know

If you think about it the show really is Stars in their eyes x10 only this time a record deal is the prize.

No because what I quoted was aimed towards those that vote for Wagner because they dont' like the X Factor, not at genuine voters. Hence, quoted for truth. Because it IS true that you don't have to watch or vote unless you want to.

Wagner has plenty of voters who like his style and love watching X Factor. I understand entirely why these people vote for him.

70s actually. But yeah; I don't really see it as giving away my age - you never know, I might just read about these things.

Anyway, besides the point of the thread.

It's always been the Great British thing. We as a nation despise winners, anyone that does well for themselves is downright evil - how dare they succeed!! Cowell has come from nothing, he pays masses to the nations tax bill, gives us entertainment, spends a load of his money here - as well in the USA. But what the hell, let's get him to leave the UK, along with all his dosh and his successfully cr*p TV shows eh?

Trust me, he doesn't really need to put up with this aggro, and frankly, we would be the poorer without him - good or bad Cowell is way better than no Cowell at all.

Around 10 million votes were cast just for the final in 2009.
16,469,064 votes were made in Series 5.
Orchestrated campaigns and higher viewing figures this year mean it will probably break all records.

That really is a big kick up Cowell's backside

IF....there is another series, perhaps Mr Cowell should re-shuffle the show and stop allowing the 'funny / bizarre / non-singing' acts to go through in the 1st place. He doesn't do it on the American X factor!

I like this campaign but it is about to crash land. It is silly to get smug and confident over this as Wagner will go out of the competition tonight.

No, 'cos the Americans don't have our mentality, they would crucify him - they love winners - look how they adore SuBo?

No problem with that, but that shouldn't necessary translate into the contestants in the show doing well commercially.Sadly a select few do seem to do well commercially even though that seems more & more to rely on the tweenie audience. This is why Wand Erection will do well out of this years show. Not so sure the contestants on this years show will do so well that appeal to the more mature audience though - Matt possibly (although he appeals to tweenies & teenagers as well), Rebecca don't think so (which will effect her chances of winning the show - $yco was highly critical of her last night hhhmmm).

The reason Wagner winning would be a disaster for Simon is the ***huge*** loss of face he would suffer Stateside.

He’s just walked away from the Number 1 rated show on American television to set up X Factor as a rival/superior show - obviously he needs the mother format – XF UK – to come across as tremendously successful so that people will buy into the concept US-wise and convert from Idol - there's not enough market for both. (See: Fame academy vs. Pop Idol)

The PR for XF US has been huge - which is why, if you read US entertainment blogs like rickey.org, perezhilton.com, votefortheworst.com etc, this year's XFactor contestants (as a group) have a way higher profile than ever before.

It will be hugely embarrassing for Simon to have to pump even a pound into marketing Wagner as "Britain's next big pop sensation" - which is of course what they are looking for, as proven by the absurd over-pimping of the charmless Cher and the we-won't-sing-live-and-you-can't-make-us 1 Direction.

I disagree actually. It will just show the Yanks what twee silly little folks there are living over the pond in some far off distant land they can't quite place on a map!

They will see the format for what it is and show us the right way to play the game - how to discover the real XF. The fact we Britons have chosen a cr*p Brazilian singer just shows why the delightful Mr Cowell wants to go and run this thing in their sensible country. Oh no, you won't be hurting Cowell one little bit.
