Elton john:X Factor treats people like 'products'

Quote:
“He told Christian O'Connell on his Absolute Radio Breakfast Show: "What's the psychological damage going to be when you've humped and dumped them, and the next one comes along?”

and more interestingly

Quote:
“"It's hard enough to see someone in a hotel lobby playing a piano who's really good and nobody gives a toss, you know. It's like, 'I've done that. It's bloody hard work'. So I'm on the artist's side."”

that the implication is that x factor isnt on the artists side.

The X Factor does treat people like products. It's a money making exercise. The show drags on long beyond a point where those taking part are still interesting. Why? Because very likely more money is made from the show than will ever be made from them during a recording career. It's all about exploiting them for what they're worth, then putting a limp effort into promoting them as artists after the show, so that there is a pretense that those taking part are successful. Some of them ARE reasonably successfull, but typically as a result of the exposure they've received rather than efforts by Cowell and co to help them.

Wonder if he'll give the royalties he got from the Elton John week to charity then?
