Wondering if the good people of DS think this will work - I was intending making some soup last week, but never got round to it, so was considering doing something tomorrow in the slow cooker. I am at home tomorrow, but need to crack on with fixing the boiler and finish painting the bedroom, so don't want to be pot watching.

I was considering;

Water
Smoked Gammon Joint
4 carrots, grated
2 onions, grated
3 leeks finely chopped
4 or 5 potatoes cubed (added about half way through)
Lentils (added once the gammon has cooked through and has been broken up)

Now, my worry is that the slow cooker won't exactly boil the mixture, so I was wondering if it would cook OK?

Any suggestions/tips?

I would bring to the boil in a pan and then transfer to the Sc.

I have made soup on the slow cooker, I just put all the ingredients in the pot and let it cook for 4 hours on high then turned it down to med for a couple more hours. I thought it tasted lovely

So far so good - not long cut up the gammon, added the lentils and potato, and the house smells lovely
