Ann is not even trying to dance. Felicity was the oldest and did not expect any special favours on grounds of her age. She just got on with it.

She's not comedy though, that's the whole point. Like Craig said, I can understand children finding her funny but grown adults .. I'm at a loss. What is funny about an incompetent, rude, bigoted disaster parading around on national television and making a mockery of the other contestant's hard work? What is funny about that?

If she does go on to the final at the expense of Kara, Scott, Pamela or Matt then I will not be watching this show ever again. Maybe that's the aim of Ann voters, to kill off Strictly and I'm sorry to say they will have won. I have watched this show since series 2, always voted, always looked forward to it and every single Ann voter is ruining my enjoyment, not to mention prizing mediocrity over talent. What a wonderful example to set for children all over the UK. Don't try, don't excel, just be uber-crap and if you're bad enough you will be gifted everything in life. I realise that sounds overly dramatic but it's just how I see it.

My sentiments exactly. The woman makes me mad

Forced and calculated comedy; it works for some but not for me - what's funny about an old dear making an exhibition of herself?

I'd pity her delusional belief that the GBP is on tenterhooks wondering what she and Anton will do next, but I was always told 'don't mock the afflicted.'

She's not 90 and most people her age are half her weight twice as mobile and capable of dealing with contact with a member of the opposite sex in a mature manner.

Rightly? Why should the British public rightly wish her and Anton to be there?

The majority of the GBP don't watch SCD so don't assume you're speaking for the masses.

If it's a competition then why didn't the worst competitor leave first?

Whatever happened to Baby Jane - I don't care if she's Jane or Blanche, neither achieved a happy ending.

Because it would be boring if the person who was at the bottom of the leader board always left.

What makes you think Sid votes for Ann?

So no public vote - just trust and accept the judges 'expertise' judgement?

Opening a can of worms there.

Or what was that movie where the dancer came down in a hoist and someone sabotaged it and it fell to the floor ?
There must be such a film ,I am sure there is .Anton and Ann could re enact it , Ann dressed in Baby Janes curls , Anton lieing on a bed with two broken feet and to the music of Phycho.Anton leaves alone in a chariot . Sorted .

I really do think that its members and supporters of the Consrvative party voting in big or biggish numbers that are keeping her in and lets face it, some of them are not short of a few bob.

No way do I think its just down to the ordinary public voting for her that is keeping her in.

I can't be the only one that thinks this. I've suspected it all along.

Quicker she is out the better for me. If she wins, SCD loses all its credibility.

I'm begining to also suspect more sinister intentions of those voting for Ann.

SCD is one of the Beebs top programmes, she is a former Tory MP, a high profile one, members and supporters of the Tory party may think they have a vested interest in keeping her in by voting for her in big numbers and as the voting is only open for about half an hour, maybe the votes needed to stay in are not as much as we think they are either.

But the main thing I'm suspecting is that the Tories imo do want to clip the wings of the Beeb bigtime, and they have already made moves to do just that, so if they can help Widdecombe win, and SCD loses all credibility, maybe they will see off this once popular programme? Kill two birds with one stone for the Tories is their thinking? They think they will have their profile raised by having one of their own winning while, seeing off one the Beebs most popular programmes by the farce of a Widecombe win happning etc etc?

Yes. I don't know how much you know about politics, but if you do follow politics, you should know the Tories have clipped the wings of the BBC by capping the license fee for the next 6 years at the current rate, wanted the BBC to pay for free TV licenses which would have cost the Beeb 500 Million, instead the Beeb decided to fund the World service and another channel which is costing them the best part of 400 million!

IMO, I have no doubt the Tory Government would like to further on the Beeb in order to appease a certain rival of theirs!

I think, actually, you'll find that it's Coalition policy and the LibDems have gone back on their pledge prior to the election not to have any more naff contestants on SCD which was included in their manifesto. However, there is some hope as it's rumoured that the whip has been suspended and that Vince Cable, as an enthusiastic ballroom dancer, will abstain in the emergency debate called by Cameron.

No the Libs have never had it in for the Beeb, just the Tories, though Blair outragously demanded a lot of heads after the white wash reports on David Kelly etc.

Libs going along with policy doesn't mean they agree with them, its the price for having some of their policies go through and I don't even support the Libs!
