I have been waiting for the Blackberry Bold 9780 to come out. But I have also got a few other phones in mind.

The Blackberry Torch is a slide out qwerty keyboard device that has a touch screen. How does the screen compare to the Bold 9780?

If I got a touch screen phone, I would want it to have a screen of at least 3.5 inches but no bigger than 4.3 inches. So it is easy to read text and it is responsive when using the phone.

Are there any people that have got a Windows 7 Phone?

I have looked at these other phones:

HTC HD7
HTC Desire HD
Samsung Galaxy S

Any advice, comments or suggestions?

I've tried the iPhone keyboard and I just couldn't get used to it, much prefer a full QWERTY keyboard, the problem with touch screen is you can't feel the buttons being pressed and have to constantly look at the keyboard and check your message.

Yea it can be like that at first, however i have had an iPhone for 2 years now, would never go back to a button-type/keyboard phone.

Eventually you get used to it and the autocorrection, i can type stuff without looking at the screen just through habit of knowing where to tap the screen and the accuracy of the corrector Can take getting used to though!

I have the Blackberry Torch and it is a great phone. It's nice having a slide out full keyboard and a touch screen. I'd reccomend it.

The new OS is great, the camera is great and the internet is fast.

If you have any more questions just ask

Me too. The phsyical keyboard on the Torch isn't quite as good as the original Bold - but it's still very good and quicker than using the touchscreen.

I've had the Torch for a month or so and I really cannot fault it.

I had a Samsung Omnia for a while with a full keyboard, then went to an iPhone.

I thought the proper hardware keyboard would be better, but the iPhone on screen one is far superior, although saying that it seems to depend on the phone, the on screen one on the Samsung was awful.

I dunno, I have a Nokia 5800, and it vibrates whenever you hit a button on the touch screen, so you do get some form of feedback

I use a standard phone (0-9) layout for my touchscreen and just rely on predictive text. Don't know how anyone can use QWERTY whether the keys be physical or touch, unless they have the smallest thumbs in existence.

True. It's certainly better than the Curves keyboard LOL

I also have a Nokia 5800 but use a stylus with QWERTY. I can type really quickly on it and would never have anything other than QWERTY.

I have a Desire and a Bold. I prefer the Bold for typing. For me it's quicker and simpler to access symbols and capitalise letters. I prefer the Desire for the internet, but the battery life is much worse than the my Bold.

Like most things in life it comes down to individual preference, get what works for you and enjoy it!

Has anyone used either the Blackberry Torch or Bold 9780, if so How do they compare?

Both use the new Blackberry 6.0 OS.

I know the Blackberry Torch has both a touch screen and qwerty slide out keyboard, is this good?

One thing I don't like about the Blackberry Torch is that you wouldn't be able to keep it in a case, like the Bold 9780.

I wouldn't want to scratch the phone.

I have looked at a few other phones:

HTC Desire HD
Samsung Galaxy S

Are any of the new Windows 7 phones any good?

I went from the N97 (qwerty) to the iPhone 3G (touch) and apart from a period of adjustment, no issues whatsoever. Pretty soon I was typing without even looking at the screen.

Have the Desire HD now and that is also very good. The onscreen keys are a little too close but the work prediction is excellent and never misses a beat.

My friend has the new Bold and I have the Torch. IMO the Torch is a much better phone, the build is better, it feels more sturdy in your hand, the touch screen is great (its not a push down one like the Storm), the keyboard is also good.

If you're worried about the screen getting scracted get it a case from Amazon, I got this one and it's great. It has a magnet in the case and when the phones in it, it makes it save battery.

Strongly suggest the Torch. The new OS is great also

Im very pleased with my Desire HD, coming from a BB hardware keyboard the touchscreen is a bit weird, but ive got quite fast with it.

As a device i prefer the HD/android, but the Blackberry battery life is vastly superior and some people like BB messenger too.

The Windows Phone 7 keyboard is brilliant, I have the Mozart and it is very easy to type on. The correction and prediction features work almost perfectly and the keyboard is responsive, the typing sound is good to.

If you do a lot of typing a physical keyboard would be better but for most usage a good touchscreen keyboard can be better (no need to rotate the phone).
