It depends on your primary focus ....
The Desire HD has the advantage of a larger selection of apps, but that big screen and the relative lack of power management with Android can result in needing charging during the day (according to a friend who is replacing his works iPhone with a desire HD) - it'll all depend on your usage. N8 has a clear advantage in video and stills, and definitely has the edge in battery life (I'm tending to get a couple of days, where my previous Android ZTE Blade was getting less than one). No doubt this will descend into an android v symbian discussion though. |

it is very much a personal choice.
the desire HD has a very large screen. which is good. but it makes the phone big which is bad. there are certainly more apps for the desire, but the ovi market place is growing very very fast. n8 camera is awesome. the one on the desire is ok. they each have their merits. it's really a personal choice. |

Have you considered a Nokia C7? Its similar to N8 but in a smaller form and same size screen minus HDMI out.
Sasmsung Galaxy S is also good but lacks flash on camera. |

I had the N8 for a week before sending it back. And my brother has the Desire HD which I play on loads.
The Hd is too big for my liking, but it is a really nice phone. Screen res isn't that great but it's good enough. I'm personally not getting either. HD too big. N8 I got was faulty and put me off. I'm going for the HTC Trophy, which is cheaper too |

I have desire HD - first touch screen, and very easy to use, the phone works well, hooks up with all the google stuff (mail, calender etc) without any bother. I'm pleased with it, it fits in my pocket, but I do tend to take it out and leave it on the desk / table more than previous phones, so I must notice its size. In some respects I like that, as I don't have it in my pocket radiating my tender nether regions all day.
Battery lasted all weekend (fully charged when I left work on Friday, and on its last legs this morning!). As I have had is a few weeks I didn't play with it so much this weekend. In normal use it needs charging once in 24 hrs. |
