BBC Strictly has tweeted a bit of info about the semi final and finals hopefully more will emerge

Couples will dance 2 dances one on Friday and one on Saturday with results on Sunday 12th

Grand final on Saturday 18th with results on same night.

Seems they won't do every dance then (unless 3 new dances in the final?)- that's a shame, it's harder to compare them that way. Thanks for the info.

Thanks Jan for the information.

Don't they usually do two dances in one night for the semi finals?

Perhaps they are assuming Anne is going to be there for the semis, so doing one dance each night because she couldn't cope with 2?

Also, stretching the show over 3 nights seems a bit unnecessary to me.

Hi Red - I think they would have planned the two nighter months in advance.

Hi Sid, I was being a bit flippant there, so should have put a smiley!

However, unless they've got some really superb dancing from the pros to entertain us, I still think 3 nights is drawing it out a bit too much.

Overall, I think the quality of the pro routines has dipped this year.

Here's the press office release for the Final:

It's finally here – the Strictly Come Dancing grand final. Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly present the ultimate dance showdown live from Television Centre. The last few surviving celebrities and their professionals take the floor by storm, hoping that it is enough to get their hands on the legendary Strictly Come Dancing 2010 glitterball trophy.

The terrific twosomes will be pulling out all the stops, performing a plethora of dazzling dances – including their showstopping Show Dance, where, lifts- and tricks-wise, anything goes. Who has saved their best dance for last and who will outshine the rest? With all the surprises and excitement so far in the competition it could be any of the fantastic contestants' night.

In this fantastic finale the couples, as always, want to impress the judges but, for this week only, it is down to the all-important votes from the viewers at home, and nothing else.

Who has waltzed and sashayed their way into the public's hearts enough to be crowned Strictly Come Dancing Champion for 2010? Find out in the Results show, which can be seen on the same night as the final, to find out.

Strictly Come Dancing is simulcast in HD on BBC One HD on Freesat channel 108, Freeview channel 50, Sky channel 143 and Virgin Media channel 108.

If there are still 5 couples left - yes.

I'm still confused, does that mean that the couples in the final will not perform all the dances, or will they have three new dances to learn for the final!?

In past series they have always performed/rejigged their favourite or highest scoring Ballroom and Latin again then learnt the show dance. But as every couple still has five new dances left that means there will still be two after the semi final.

I think we need to forget about past years, this year is completely different.

I reckon 2 dances will be dropped out. In the final, I think judges may nominate a dance that they think couples could have done much better in the series, and couples will have a chance to redeem themselves. Not sure if they will be doing a new dance in the final (apart from showdance that is). I don't think so but who knows.

Other than that, I have no idea

Thanks for the info, I had wondered how they were going to fit everything in over the remaining 3 weeks
