A Final Ode To Wagner - And A Good Luck Message To All The Others
And so it came pass, we won many battles, we fought hard 'til we could fight no more, but in the end our commander in chief fell gallantly on his sword. The Wagnerians were defeated 'tis true, but we still hold our heads high.
I don't want to talk of fixing or manipulation, we all know how this show works you can make up your own mind as you will. I don't want even to answer back to those that never understood in the first place, those who gloated as he fell. For many, even if it started as a joke, we grew to love Lord Wagner. He was nothing short of heroic this weekend. Unforgettable made me feel more emotional than any XF performance I've ever seen. He was a true legend, a ponytailed, brazilian, karate-chopping wonder. Or as the Guardian put it... That's it, then. Wagner is no more. I'm numb. I've grown to love him over the weeks. I wish he was my uncle. He will be missed. But at least we'll have the bongos. We'll always the bongos. Farewell, you hairy maniac. To all the other contestants I say good luck, whoever you are. I am fan of the show, not the music, so I won't be buying your records. But I can't help but respect ANYONE who chases a dream just like Lord Wagner did, attempting to live outside the 9-5 bubble and the norms of life. We armchair pundits criticise, but at least you're living your own dreams. I'll be keeping my profile exactly as it is, because it represents a moment. We may have wasted our money if that's what people think, but oh my god did we live. We lived vicariously and ridiculously and most importantly positively for a few cold days in late November 2010, and my god it was bloody wonderful! To Lord Wagner, I hope you rake in the cash dear Sir. You were magnanimous and fantastic in defeat. Enjoy your spoils. The Wagnerians may have had our last hurrah...but the memory of the dream will never die. Go Lord Wagner and spread THINE word! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRa-XUbzpgU |

A fitting tribute to a great man.
I feel a bit of me died on Sunday, but at the same time he brought more into our lives than was there before. So on balance, we have all come out better than we went in. We have Lord Wagner to thank for this, and I will be eternally grateful to Him. God speed Wagner, you transcended the show from which you were born. |

Wagner showed tremendous class & dignity, despite the smear campaigns; despite being used like a pawn by $imon Cowell, ritually humilated & used.
He can't sing for toffee, but I hope he can salvage something from XF & forge some sort of career. I'd also like to pay a tribute to Katie who went through the mill also & showed great courage & exited with class & dignity as well. Now that $imon has moved the goalposts again, we can now look forward to a talented act winning the show; so let battle commence. |

Aaw. I can't say I personally was sorry to see him go, but all hail to the Wagner fans who have made this board such an interesting and sometimes frustrating place to be lately.
Good luck to Wagner

Yes it was emotional, because of what it represented.
A nice, humble man, who just wanted a place in showbusiness. Knew he wasnt the best, knew he wouldn't win, and I'm sure he knew he was the joke/ protest vote. But he didn't give a toss about that. All he wanted was to enjoy the moment and give something back to the Wagnerites who supported him Wagner, you are truly unforgettable |

Thank you for that OP so very touching. And as someone from the guardian said... Sundays result show was somewhat like the great scene in STAR WARS where Darth Vader throws the evil emporer down the lift shaft before slipping away himself. Our lord wagner threw katie wassel down that lift shaft and for that I shall be eternally thankful

Good Luck to Wagner in the future. I may not have always liked him, but I admire his humility and his determination. Simon Cowell was incredibly rude to him. As for the contestant thing, I like how you say good luck to all. Really Wagner fans are not bad like made out to be, they're just misunderstood.

Fab post, and whilst its cold outside there's genuine warmth inside for the man who gave us Loaf Shack, titty rubbing dancers, karate high kicks, lion taming, drug scandals and even managed to knock the Nations sweetheart down a few pegs in the process.
Hail Wagner! ![]() ![]()
