Time to move on from O2
Right the time has come to move on from O2 as their 3G coverage is no good in this day and age especially on a smart phone.
Was looking at T-Mobile and Vodafone for my new network. Have seen on here that 3's data is good but just do not want to go to 3 for my mobile phone. Orange seem to having problems with their data side of things and tariffs are more expencive. If your getting H on both T-Mobile and Vodafone who's backbone is better that dealing with data and which one will be consistant with their data side of thing? It's going to be a sim only 30 day plan. |

Vodafone have their own high capicity access transmission network. So in theory they will have the better "backbone"

Besides if its a 30 day plan for a little hassle you could try them both over 2 months

Are the other networks not high capacity? of course they are. Do the other networks not have the same network equipment and use the same standards. I've yet to see any technical detail written down that convinces me that Vodafone's transmission network is any different to the other networks. That's just marketing speak, unless you have some more technical detail to differentiate the network with some actual facts or information. A google search produces no results for vodafone "high capacity access transmission network" it simply doesn't exist or there are no details for it, therefore the consumer cannot compare it and it's no better than me just making up some marketing terms of my own. |

I'm not saying Vodafone aren't good by the way, they would be my 2nd choice of network and they have great customer service, good capacity, speeds and good coverage. You really can't go wrong choosing Vodafone. The only issue I have is with this information of a superior backbone, which I can't find any evidence to support claims that it's the best in the UK. |

Both vodafone and orange run massive microwave access transmission networks ....not been that close to the field for a couple years but too beat of my knowledge the other networks do not.
And how it the 30 day thing marketing speak...surely its obvious that on a 30 day contract over 2 months he could try both networks and end up on the one that was best for him |

If you want 3G then surely there's only one network that will satisfy you. . .
3. |

3 and t-mobile do too if you look at the cell sites, it sounds like your info is well out of date, inaccurate and lacking supporting information for the claims made.
Most (all?) Networks give away free pay as you go cards. You can use them to test out signal strength and what not. |

As I say william I think Vodafone are very good, so I'm not saying they aren't I'm just questioning the marketing speak earlier in this thread and claims that the backbone is better than any of the other networks without any other information to suggest this is the case.

You mean nothing you can Google. How about you do some real research. Talk to people who know about these things. For example, why not find out who installed and maintains the various networks. (A hint, have a look at press releases) |

THanks guys for all your help.
Took the plung and got a Vodafone and T-Mobile 30 day sim. T-Mobile signal is H but speeds are not as good as Vodafone, Although Vodafone speeds last night very low, this morning it was 2.8mb download so looks like their data is good that is of course if I can keep a H during this trial period! Night and day to O2 already, shame as O2 customer service and tariff is good for me. Just apity they put all there money into iPhone and not their aging network. |
