Simon Cowell co-wrote "Footprints in the Sand"...
Just read on another thread that "Footprints in the Sand" is a rumour for the winner's single. Simon Cowell actually co-wrote the song as it was based on a poem he liked and it was his idea to write a song around it.
Being a writer means that Simon will gain royalties from it, meaning more money for him. It genuinely wouldn't surprise me if it's the winner's single purely for this reason. |

Can't imagine SC having much creative input - maybe he wrote the title?

Cowell is always popping up as a "writer" on Syco releases, eg as an arranger of carols on Subo's current album

Perhaps it's just a way for him to appear more credible. Other than saying "let's turn this into a song" I doubt he's had much creative input. He's not that creative, he just knows how to get the right people around him, and how to exploit them for his only personal gain.

Maybe he made an actual footprint in the sand once and that was his contribution.

I think it was that he instructed someone to write a song based around the poem. And through having come up with the idea, he thought that constituted him a writer credit.

Surely not. Saccharine and shit -- not a good mixture.

If it is then Leona's version probably beat the winner's one lol. I highly doubt this will be the winner's single. Or No Boundaries (which is in the same vein as The Climb).

Hit for Leona Lewis of course. Which is odd since anyone who covers Leona on the show - or covers a song she sang in Series 3 - gets shot down. Matt's the only person who's covered a Leona track and really got away with it.
