Before this series it was always Alesha as my favourite female. Jill was technically above her in latin but overall Alesha was better for me. But now I think it might be Kara. In fact, I know it's Kara.

Best male would be Ricky Whittle, although he never reached the standard, in my opinion, of the top 6 female celebs over the course of the series (Kara, Alesha, Jill, Emma, Rachel, Lisa).

Best female - Jill Halfpenny (one of the first truly legendary dancers) / Kara Tointon (she just looks so stunning when she moves)
Runners up - Rachel Stevens (fantastic technical execution; lacking in performance) / Alesha Dixon (the opposite problem to Rachel)

Best male - Colin Jackson (so robbed) / Austin Healey (so robbed) / Matt Baker (probably won't be robbed)
Runners up - Ricky Whittle (similar to Rachel, and I didn't like him) / Tom Chambers (actually a good dancer, despite all the hooha over that series)

Best female: Jill but Kara will overtake her if she can do a halfway decent showdance. Kara's dances have made me cry more than anyone else.

Best male: Austin with another he woz robbed!

Thirded!
Jill was the best female by a country mile imo.

Mark was fabulous but I think Tom Chambers ran him a close second. His show dance will linger long in my memory

I think it is difficult to be fair to them as I think the pro they dance with influences the result, and the rules and number of dances per week has changed over the years.

Men.
I would say Colin Jackson was the most naturally talented, and if paired with Lilia, might be a clear winner. Ricky Whittle danced more dances well than Mark Ramprakash, but Mark had some standout dances.

Women.
Jill was a natural and had some great dances. The closest to Kara as a pure dancer.
Alesha was a great all-rounder with a slight weakness in her lower legs.
Rachel became very good technically in some dances and has more best ever dances IMO than anyone else, but was weak in the Jive and Paso.
Kara - my new best dancer, has natural ability and hasn't had a weakness yet apart from the Jive, which may have been affected by Artem's injury. Best ever dancer, but not the best ever dances.

Agree with the bolded, and that, is at essence, why she's so favorably remembered to me.
