Alesha's Gloss-Over
Whoops, posted this in the appreciation thread... by accident.
Very quickly bypassed on "It Takes Two" this evening with the following statement from Alesha... (paraphrased a little...) "I normally agree with Craig's scoring, I'm just nicer with the comments. Watching it back, it might have been an 8 instead of a 9. My 9 evened out Craig's 6." Once again, paraphrasing a bit, but honestly - your job is to score the dancing love, not sugar-coat the "true" judges' scores with a throwaway 9 for the sake of it... What the hell, next week start up your "points for wearing pink" campaign again? Clarity Alesha, not charity... |

"your job is to score the dancing love" you forgot to add, from the perspective of an ex-contestant. That bit is pretty important

Alesha doesn't seem to realise that "charity" marks are unfair to the other contestants. I think she's a bit of a joke as a judge.

If Alesha wants to be nice she could give encouraging and constructive comments to the contestants but then at least attempt to give a realistic score.
Strange how her niceness never extends to all the dancers. |

Strange how her niceness never extends to all the dancers. I think TBH, people have learnt to live with her even though she's pretty useless as a judge. She doest come across as very articulate when she's given critique as well. |

I thought it was quite brave of Alesha to come on with Craig and explain herself. I don't agree with her scoring but I still like her.

True that. Like last year she has her fav's. It's not like she's Dannii from xfactor and is the same to all of them, regardless.

"You ain't as good as you think you are, innit?" Alright, I made up the "innit" part, but that came out of nowhere last year - but just shows how she can swing the knife both ways I suppose. Ex-contestant or not, it's her job to still score a dance in relation to how well it is DANCED. And even from an ex-contestant's point of view, Scott's dance was not a 9. |

Watching the slow-motion recording of Scott's errors made Alesha's score appear all the more ridiculous.
But there again, Craig and Alesha's comments about Pamela were equally absurd..in my opinion. Were the lifts dangerous ?..didn't appear so to my un-trained eyes, no more so than many others we've seen anyway. I thought Pamela looked ungainly, I know some of that may have been intentional (the Charleston contains elements of comedy) but it did not merit a 10..again, in my opinion. |

Alesha is a judge because she won Strictly in the past. She is not a professional dancer/instructor or judge. She is there to give her own personal and unique view. Each judge was chosen from their own field and for there own take on the dances. I do not want to watch 4 judges liking and disliking identical things, giving identical comets and scoring identical marks.

![]() I thought tonight's ITT merely served to highlight what a poor judge Alesha is. I'm surprised the producers exposed her bizarre marking so openly given how hard they've tried in the past to convince us that she's worthy of her judge status. |

Is that not a crucial aspect of judging though? Inter-rater reliability? If the panel can't agree, how on earth are we supposed to take them seriously? To trust them? Who are we to believe? |

Totally hopeless. She is being paid to judge the dancing not arrange the leaderboard as SHE thinks it should look. She has totally discredited the judging system. What a stupid woman. |

I definitely wouldn't describe her as brave, neither do I think it was a wise move. I don't think it did her any favours at all.

She is there to give her opinion as a past contestant, simple as. Yes, she may have been mistaken for giving Scott a 9 (although I think a 10 for Pamela was totally justified) but haven't all the judges over or under marked over the years at some point. She is looking at in the eyes of a past contestant. People need to stop being rude. The comment about her intelligence was totally unwarranted and i know for a fact she is incredibly smart and wise.

They have learnt not to make the same mistake again. The last thing they want is for Ann to get the sympathy vote as well. |

Possibly. Slagging of the elephant in the room backfired on them when it was John Sargeant.

I thnk they're wise not to antagonise Ann's fans Abba. When the whole panel laid into John Sergeant week after week, there was quite a backlash against the judges.

I agree. Craig Kelly's Cha Cha Cha:
"You ain't as good as you think you are, innit?" Alright, I made up the "innit" part, but that came out of nowhere last year - but just shows how she can swing the knife both ways I suppose. Aha, there has been a shortage of 'I hate Alesha' threads this year (thank goodness) so now let's fit this in all quickly before the finals are over. |

Yes , I know but its hugely frustrating now to see them gloss over it and pretend its not even happening . I really need to get a life dont I ?
![]() Much more interesting listening to how they distinguish between the top four where the differences in quality are less clear and more important because they can affect the order. |

So why should she be perfect when head judge Len is far from consistent or even fair with his scoring?
Aha, there has been a shortage of 'I hate Alesha' threads this year (thank goodness) so now let's fit this in all quickly before the finals are over. The fact that she said she agrees with Craig's scores doesn't make sense when her scores are vastly different. She seems to be giving out high marks because she feels sorry for people, which is crazy. I don't hate Alesha, I hate her scoring a lot of the time. Turning this into a "fans v haters" debate is silly. Alesha's scores weren't fair on Saturday and people have a right to say so. Bruno has been almost as bad this year, but he's been a bit better than Alesha. |

I reckon they probably realise it's stating the obvious so don't bother.

At least Aleysha tried to explain herself. Craig just acted insufferably smug, as usual.

I listen with interest to them and am non the wiser !!
Hence threads like this.... ![]() I couldn't believe they sat there criticising Kara's timing and Matt's tense face, and then ooohed and ahhhed as we saw Pamela's manic face and heavy footing during the replay of her Charleston. It's those sorts of inconsistencies that make us question the judges (and reading back the ITT thread, it seems I'm not alone!). |
