I can't remember what the music was but it was an upbeat Xmas song. It was mainly jive with some salsa and cha cha thrown in I think. They were all dressed in red and white: the girls were in short playsuits and the guys were in long-sleeved latin shirts and the tightest trousers. The warm-up guy joked that Gavin had to be stitched in to his.

John Barrowman is camp

His arrogance really annoys me. He's bound to have done some dancing before, and he did Dancing on Ice. Hardly a fair competition. I don't like his singing voice either!

Great report, youcandoit! I almost felt I was there with you. Thank you.

I know John Barrymore (snarf, snarf) gets a lot of stick, but he's hugely talented. I think 'tall poppy syndrome' means something along the lines of 'the taller they are, the more people will want to cut them down to size' and it's true that some of us sneer more at successful people. Then again, Barrowman has a big personality that is bound to annoy people. I just focus on the talent.

Well done, John and Kristina! Can't wait to see this at Christmas.

Just a question about the mistletoe. Were Kara and Artem the only ones to kiss under mistletoe ? Did they seem loved up and happy ? ( As newspapers would have us believe )

Thanks again and glad you enjoyed the show.”

I'm fairly sure they were the only ones. The couples were spread out all over the floor so it was hard to watch them all. They started the routine with Kara in front of the front door they seem to love using, she was holding the mistletoe and when they kissed it certainly looked real.

I think he's moderately talented, but very overrated. I don't have a problem with that - it's his attitude that really irritates me. He's only hugely successful because of the way he looks anyway.

My friend got into see this - she said she was very lucky as she was one of the last standby ones to get in. She wouldn't tell me who won last night but then I got it out of her this morning....although this thread has appeared now anyway! She said he was a deserving winner

I'll bet Pamela (and to be fair Kara) probably loved that. And we all owe the Clacton WI a extra debt of thanks for keeping Ann busy last night.

Tall Poppy Syndrome...
Surprised that you hadn't heard that one. i was told about it by an Aussie firend who reckons that it is a problem in Australia - that anyone who is too successful "should" be cut down to size. It's very true that there's a lot of it on DS, is it jealousy, envy or plain old fashioned cynicism

I suspect they have lined him up as Brucie's replacement & have told him that if he breathes a word about winning, he won't get the job.

I don't think it is Tall Poppy Syndrome, just a lot of people can't stand him. He is not as tall a poppy as he think he is anyway .

Did she say how many people did get in? Tickets were very hard to come by and hideously oversubscibed.

I LOVE JB and I have no problem saying that! Not everybody's taste, but definitely mine! He's one of the best looking men alive and multi-talented!

That would make my Christmas!

PS I don't believe the reason by the way, but I'm glad she wasn't there to spoil the dance!

Top reports guys - specially as I'll miss the TV event as I'm away for Xmas.

Glad it's Barrowman who won. Say what you like, the man is a truly stunning stage performer and there are few to match him when it comes to this sort of all-singing all-dancing style

I don't know about the others, but I doubt if Barrowman had time in his schedule later. He's started Panto rehersal this week (show opens on 11th).

I'm looking forward to SCD at Xmas now.
