Whose your Favourite Dancer or Favourite Entertainer?

Seeing as this year's strictly is turning into a bit of an entertainment/ comedy show; what's the perception of the public - is the dancing or the entertainment more important?

For me, I like a bit of both, probably 70% dancing and 30% entertainment.

Fave couple - Dancing: Kara & Artem
Fave couple - entertainment: Matt & Aliona

It's all about dancing for me. That's where my entertainment comes from. I don't understand how they can be separate For me, I'm never more entertained than when watching an amazing dance and three couples have done that for me this year - Kara & Artem, Pamela & James and Scott & Natalie. My favourite of those is Kara & Artem because they have done it consistently whereas the other two started off strong but have deteriorated. But that doesn't mean I'm not open to them coming back strong, I hope they do. It's just that consistency is important to me and therefore Kara & Artem are miles ahead. I also think that at her best she's a million miles beyond the rest at their best

Can I just say - and I genuinely am not trying to be snide or bitchy, it just drives me crazy - the title should be Who's not Whose.

Chill out with the spelling and grammar brigade Lovely, it's only a little forum - no need to get your knickers in a twist

I'd agree with your comments about the quality of dancing though. I'd much prefer to see fabulous dancing than some of the tat (Ann) we've seen this year. However, what happens when you get 3 or 4 brilliant dancers - how do you separate them?
It is at this point, you would get a popularity contest based on personality and audience connection and not necessarily technical ability.

I stick with my original choice of Kara/ Artem - dancing and Matt/Aliona - entertainment.

Best for Dancing and Entertainment are one in the same for me. I'm naive enough to have started to watch Strictly this year to see the dancing and that's the entertainment I'm looking for in this programme.

So, it's Kara and Artem for both categories. Scott has been good in both too on occasions and I really liked Matt's Charleston (Dancing and Entertainment) and Vincent's VTs are entertaining.

I genuinely wasn't trying to have a go and said so in my post. Thanks for ignoring it and reacting negatively anyway.

I agree that good dancing is the entertainment and the two can't be separated. I like all of the 'Top 4', although Scott is slipping.

I agree with you. I blame the teaching nowadays!

What I do is toughen my criteria from who's good, who's okay and who's awful to who's extremely good, who's quite good and who's just good. For me Kara is extremely good, Scott is quite good and Pamela is just good. I'd probably put Matt in the just good category too. The only reason I enjoy Pamela more is because James has shown her off in better choreographed dances than Aliona has done for Matt. In my opinion.

You put it very nicely: I agree about the negative reaction.

Another vote here for Kara and Artem for both dance and entertainment.

I agree with the OP:
Fave couple - Dancing: Kara & Artem (who also produce the most consistently good choreography, so they are second in entertaiment)
Fave couple - entertainment: Matt & Aliona (who I also think is the second best dancer celeb after Kara).

The only reason why I think that Matt and Aliona are more entertaining is because I find their slightly weird choreographies more unexpected and I appreciate that, as I am someone who prefers other types of dance to ballroom and latin, even though I like those too.

Favourite Dancer - Kara

Favourite Entertainer - Scott.

When he's 'on' I find myself slightly more entertained by Scott's performances. But Kara is the more natural and consistent dancer.

Incidentally, I do think it's possible to separate being a good dancer and being entertaining. Whilst John Sergeant wasn't the best technically, I thoroughly enjoyed his and Kristina's routines and the wonderful relationship they had. They put a huge smile on my face

Matt and Aliona are by far the couple I look forward to each week.
However, Anne and Anton are my guilty pleasure!

Scott in the first half of the series (so far).
Kara in the second half of the series (so far).
