The only reason the viewing figures have gone up is because it is no longer up against X Factor as it has been in previous years, the viewing figures are therefore not relevant! It is now on at a time when there is nothing else to watch which is the only reason a lot of people tune in!
You obviously didn't bother to check the facts before you posting that rubbish.

At this point last year there was barely any clashes with The X factor and in 2008 there was none at all.
Strictly is up 2-3m on BOTH years.

For the last few weeks more people have been watching than Last years FINAL and the X factor was over at that stage so you cant use the excuse there either.

I have watched SCD since the very first program and i can say this is without a doubt the worst season ever..

Ms Ross has ruined my favourite television program, also the only programe i never miss.

Getting rid of the 5 pro dancers was her biggest mistake, doesn't she know thats why most of us watch SCD..That dance troupe is a shambles,i feel for Ian and Darren,Lilia and Brian were right to leave..The only good pro dance this year was the one with Matt in it.Ms Ross also was the cause of Pro partnerships getting broken up.They were a joy to watch.
How can she not want a dancer and teacher who got his celeb partner to the West End,she should have been so happy about that and used it.

The judging this year is also a bit suspect,CRH is i think the only one giving correct scores most of the time.I dislike all the gimmicks and props..it is a dance show.

I don't agree with no dance off, what is the point in having judges when they really haven't that much power now, wait until good celeb dancer's start to get voted out, some already have been.Ms Ross can't be blamed for the viewers vote but one celeb keeps saying what the next dance will be and what they will be doing, the final dance was even mentioned..that is wrong.

The AT should have been used only in the final finals, there is something magic about that dance and also i think its great to see all the couples doing the same dance in the semi finals.

Maybe next year SCD will go back to the old format, keep the time change, thats the only good thing.

Yeah they really are going to sack someone who has just reversed a major ratings slump. What palent do you currently live on
The only thing she did to reverse the ratings slump was to move the time of Strictly so that it didn't clash with X-Factor. That really is obvious and any fool could do that - even me! Or you!

I am sure i am one of many who think this years SCD is a disaster and not a patch on previus series.

As far as I am concerned the blame for ruining my favourite program lies squrely at the feet of Moira Ross. Her main concern is ratings thats fine . She Chose to get rid of five brilliant professional dancers Lilia,,Brian,Matt,Darren and Ian all were superb teachers and choreographers.
Think the ratings would have been even higher had the five been kept.
Miss Ross seemed to have a problem with their popularity most viewers knew the pros, better than most of the celebs. Nothing wrong with that. Also the standard of the pro dances is not as good this year.

The judging this year is farcical look like they have been told to throw the rule book away ,anything goes. The one excdeption to this is CRH all credit to him, although Brucie should be told to put a sock in it as he is consistent in shouting Craig down.

The so called dance troupe apart from Darren and Ian are unknown and likely to remain so ,no one has taken the trouble to give us more than a brief hail and farewell about them.

The show has higher ratings because as everyone else has said its not competing with the X factor
and viewers like watching Widdie making a complete fool of herself. One thing is for certain she will not give up.Who knows the way things are going she could be in the final or god forbid even win the series.

I saw an article yesterday which said WIDDIE was doing the SCD tour ,at first \i thought it was 1st April then i remembered it was December all i can conclude from this is that ticket sales are bad
and I cant see them improving would you pay high prices for the pleasure of watching Widdie dance.?

Can see Moira Ross if she is still in charge of the next series looking for a Widdie Mark 2

Should Moira Ross be sacked YES ,cant see it happening they will probably promote the the most unpopular producer since the series started.

I think this is probably due to the warped sense of humour the British Public possess not Miss Ross! The Widdie Floor Cleaner being the biggest attraction to young and old alike. I cannot and do not get it! I have watched Come Dancing and SCD for a lot of my life and always loved it. Eric Morley was a true ballroom and latin pioneer I believe it was his brain child and granted when CD ended it truly was tired and had seen its hey day. I believe Anton and Brendan were in at the initial talks to revamp to SCD and were both very afraid that the new style series would dumb down Ballroom and Latin! Now I wonder which one of those two is more responsible for that?? I think Anton is doing a stirling job with developing his TV profile - however, he and Miss Ross are not doing anything for Ballroom or Latin dancing. Len has totally lost my respect this year too - allowing lifts, props and illegal moves. I guess they are all in it for the wrong reasons - they have lost their initial values and are now only interested in the world of wider work and media exposure. No skin of Anne's nose, she is in it to win it and scoop the prize and the money! Wonder just how Anton will feel if he does become the BOOBY CHAMPION OF THE DANCE WORLD AS VOTED FOR BY THE GREAT BRITISH PUBLIC. ???

Moira Ross will stay I am sure - as you say she has improved the rating of this family entertainment show which should also have a name change because Strictly and Dancing in the true sense is no longer in it!

It isn't rubbish at all, it's my opinion! If the viewing figures have improved then it is not because of Miss Ross but as a result of the comedic element & sadly not because of the dancing! Either it's a dancing competition or an comedy show & if it's the latter, then I'm no longer interested!!

"I don't think the viewers are her main concern, ratings and revenue are obviously important to her."

Someone posted this complaining about M Ross. Isn't it her job to keep up the ratings and thus revenue? If ratings and revenue improve, doesn't that mean that the viewers are watching?

My feeling is that tv bosses are concerned with getting new viewers and just assume the established viewers will stick with their habit of watching no matter what.

It's easy to make that mistake in any business-it is a mistake and certainly inconsiderate.

It isn't rubbish at all, it's my opinion!
Your opinion does not match the facts.

The viewing figures have increased, dramatically, this year, compared to both last year and the year before.

She has, in short, done a good job within the (admittedly quantity-not-quality-oriented) parameters set for her remit.

I don't agree, programme is nowhere near the standard of previous years! Figures can be changed to suit, don't be fooled!!

Totally agree, Moira Ross for the boot, P45 handed to her as soon as possible please!

Too many changes to the show this year that simply just dont work for me. Massively disappointmented in loosing Matt, Ian, Brian and Lilia to the show, a huge blow before the series even began.

The promise of 'BIG' named celebrities.....yep well not convinced on that one either...The dance troope idea - has totally failed, blink and you'll miss them.

Too gimiky and like many off you have said its turning into a comedy show, who generates the biggest laughs wins....thats not a dance contest? In the words of Mr Banantyne "I'm OUUUUT"!

Its trying to be like DWTS, yet doesnt quite manage it... achieves a more Carry-on movie style. What will we have next year good ole Barbara Windsor doing her famous exercise routine from Carry-on camping in the middle of a Rhumba! oooh matron, Lens walnuts will be well and truely pickled!

Viewing figures have been massaged, scheduling this years works to the shows advantage, after all its Saturday night in front of the tellybox...The whole thing is contrived and orchastrated James Jordan will win this series - you've heard it here first (or maybe you havent!!)

If they really wanted to give the show a face-lift she should have got Brucie to hang his boots up. That would have been a refreshing change! All credit too him the man is a Saturday night legend, but those jokes...tumbleweed city!! As much as a bully she's been in pushing her changes through, Moira Ross hasnt quite got the balls to make that change....Alesha needs to go too, absolutely zero credibility as a judge!

In my view Ms Ross hasnt not listened to any research about what her die hard strictly viewers want to see in her bid to attract the younger viewer...Tina O'brien & Jared werent they supposed to be there for the younger viewer... well they lasted a while didnt they - I guess prooving a point?

Anyway ranted enough, totally support this thread I do believe she's taken the show in the wrong direction, the sinking ship direction...and not one I'm going to be joining, which is a shame as I've followed SCD since the begining.

Maybe I'm wrong but I feel theres more than Moira Ross to blame. I too have watched from the very first and I think (for me) this is definately the worst series.

I hate the props and feel that most of the dances are showdances .
The judges especially Len have lost their credibility, Len has accepted things this year that he would not have done in previous years.,
The dance troupe is a big failure
Anyhow Strictly now is what it is and its obvious its not going to go back to what I orininally loved about it. I suppose the ratings is how Moira Ross gets paid.
It has shown the influence of DWTS and is the poorer for it - in particular the props drive me wild, Ok if your're Gavin or Ann and need to distract the judges but it has done Matt no favours. Last night Scott's phaffing around with a hat just made me remember how good Kara hadbeen with her hat in the AT- so it did Scott no favours either.

I suppose things have to evolve and at least we have lost the dreaded dance-off which completely distorted the judges' voting. I am not of the generally expressed opinion on here that the judges' voting is to try and 'fix' anything but I do think it has been completely erratic with only CRH maintaining any structure to how he votes.

The dance troupe could have been a very good idea but it just disappeared why? I would love to see a professional troupe dance every week. I would also love to see a 'classic' version of a dance each week without the professionals needing to 'push the boundaries'.

And finally I would like a return to the format where we could actually judge the celebrities dances against each other - the format is so sloppy when judges are trying to compare four different dances and I am sure that it influences who goes out in which order.
