I think most people have decided who'll they'll vote for before the final - the league championship scenario - their dances throughout the series hitting the spot more than any others. I actually didn't like Alesha's show dance but I loved more of her dances than Matt's overall.

Likewise, I think Tom was a dead cert - would have been unpredictable if Austin had stayed in. Tom was the only celeb I didn't really know that year, but he impressed me from week one and consistently won my vote.

And Darren Gough?

Chris won because of his Showdance?

Darren won because of his "journey" storyline. The public also wanted a man to win because there had already been 2 female winners. He didn't exactly sparkle in the Final.

Colin's showdance probably didn't help, but would that not have been near the end of the programme? I doubt Darren won by a slim margin.

OK, I've been doing some adding up (again), and here are the results so far:

Tom: 11
Darren: 11
Chris: 5
Natasha: 2
Ramps(!): 1
Alesha(!): 1

I must say, I was surprised to see Chris being favoured over Tom and Darren, but I'm not in the least surprised that most of the votes are for males.

In my opinion, the only male celeb who deserved to win his series was Ramps, whereas all the female winners were streets ahead of the competition. Doesn't bode well for poor Kara, who might well end up competing with Rachel for title of "best female celeb not to win SCD".

Worst winner Chris Hollins - well he could dance a bit, and so could Goughie. Some people have said Tom Chambers, don't get that, he was clearly a natural dancer, although maybe not technically as good as Rachel that year.

Worst ever dancer Quentin Wilson, followed by Widdy.

Well I worked very hard yesterday for very little productivity so last night I was feeling decidedly grumpy.

Feeling better - another day another dollar!

Get Anton to show you the easy way to £100,000.

Darren Gough for me. He shades it over Tom Chambers because Tom was a better dancer, plus I loathed Lisa and didn't want her to win, and was ambivalent about Rachel. With Darren, Zoe was my favourite that year and I also really liked Colin so was really unhappy that he won over those two. He was not a good dancer and the continual banging on about how he was "a bloke" really irritated me. What was Colin, a cat?

Ramps was only really good at Latin. I think Tom was a better dancer overall, even if he didn't deserve to win over Rachel. Emma was considerably better than Ramps overall.

The comments about Rachel's Latin are interesting considering Jill's Ballroom was nothing spectacular.

Bad? No, never - but like Rachel only ever really aced Latin in the Rumba, in my opinion Jill's Foxtrot was her only outstanding Ballroom effort.

Nothing scientific but I took an instant dislike to Hollins and it stayed throughtout the show so he gets my vote.

No, the reason most votes are for males is because this is Digital Spy.

Chris and Tom won because people loved them. Rachel, Ali, Ricky, Lisa etc just didn't connect and would have made awful winners for the simple fact the public didn't choose them.

Anyway like I already said, Tom was a great dancer. Not that it matters, he won already so I don't even know why I'm bothering.

Given that I voted for every winner, I'm happy with all of the winners and wouldn't change any of the results.

Surely this thread is really about who's favourite didn't win?

Are you saying DS forum members are anti-male or that they're pro dancing ability?

I think we do understand that the public liked Tom and Chris for their personalities and, in the case of Tom, dancing ability (though some on this forum would debate the term "great"). I was just making the point that the voting public seem to favour the male celeb (when it's close, that is).

Regarding the purpose of this thread, why not discuss who's the least worthy winner - someone must be.

At the moment it's between Matt and Kara and I probably won't decide until the showdances. Since Alesha won I've not found just the one couple I've liked enough to vote for during the series, so I only voted in the finals - same this year.

Ah but Buddy, I think I've always voted for the winner too. . Up to now I've had a preference for Scott though (and my one cast vote has been for him). (Although given his recent performances I am swaying towards Kara, and could possibly support Matt if Aliona calms down her choreography).

Don't give up on Scotty just yet VL!

Not quite yet Sid. I'm giving him another week - it's easy to go through a bad spell. I was completely engaged by his enthusiasm for all that he was doing, but it wasn't there last week and I just wish he didn't look so tired and ill!.

It's nice to hear a dancer say that VL!

I'm cooling off slightly on Scott and Pamela, but both could come back strong. Earlier in the series I thought Scott would romp ahead and his VW is probably my favourite dance of the series so far. I hope he bounces back. I'm on the fence about Pamela.

I don't think I've ever been unhappy with any of the winners. I think in the end I even voted for all of them even if they weren't necessarily the people I originally wanted in the final. Though as a dancer, I should rate dancing ability the highest, I would much rather vote for someone who is loving the experience, getting better and who connects with me, than the best technical dancer who leaves me cold. So I was perfectly happy for Darren, Tom and Chris to win because they connected with me (I was a bit disappointed that Zoe didn't win, and Austin/Gethin didn't make their finals. Also If Ricky had won last year I would also have been perfectly happy as I thought he was very good and I quite liked him).

It's the same with the real world dancing. Michael Malitowski and Joanna Leunis (who demo'd on SCD the past 2 years) are considered the best dancers in the world (until recently ) but I prefer watching the new world champions Ricardo and Julia.

Hmmm...not sure I'm that discriminating though. I think it's easy to lose the fun element by taking it all too seriously. My dance teacher (the one that has a TV that is!) is really quite relaxed about it all. They'll watch it, comment on who was good/wasn't, but won't be tearing their hair out because the best dancer didn't win.
