I was watching the results show on Sunday and it got me thinking that if they had kept the Dance Off and the judges vote who would have been eliminated each week? I will put each bottom 2 in order with eliminated first, with the one I think would have gone in brackets. Interested in seeing who will agree or disagree with my thoughts.

2. Paul or Michelle (Paul)
3. Peter or Michelle (Peter)
4. Tina or Felicity (Felicity)
5. Jimi or Michelle (Michelle)
6. Michelle or Felicity (Felicity)
7. Felicity or Patsy (Felicity)
8. Patsy or Gavin (Gavin)

I pretty much agree, although I think Felicity would not have gone out against Tina. Shame to think that Jimi could still be in it if there was a dance off. I did feel sorry for him.

We'd still have Ann though - how has the woman avoided the bottom two?!

There are two questions really - 1) if there were still a dance-off, who would have gone; and 2) if there were still a dance-off, who would you have preferred to have gone?

In week 1, Peter would have gone if the judges had still had their say, since his combined total was less than Goldie's. Peter's waltz was marginally better than Goldie's cha-cha, but his salsa was horrible and Goldie did surprisingly well in the foxtrot.

In week 2, Paul was a goner either way.

In week 3, Peter was the right choice. I know it's hard to believe, but he scored less than Ann and Anton that week.

In week 4, it pains me to say it, but Tina scored better than Felicity, so Felicity would probably have been sent home (although I would have kept her).

In week 5, Jimi would definitely have been saved by the judges. That was the week when there was a pile-up of matching scores behind him, but Jimi was fourth on the leader-board, so Michelle should have gone home.

In week 6, the judges would have sent Felicity home.

In week 7, Felicity again, as much lower than Patsy on the leader-board.

In week 8, I can't believe the judges would have saved Gavin over Patsy (certainly not Craig), so Gavin would have gone home.

So, a surprisingly different line-up might have ensued. Who knows if Goldie or (especially) Jimi might have improved as much as Patsy did?

For me it would have been ...

4. Tina or Felicity (Felicity)

But in week 6, the bottom 2 would have been different because Michelle would have gone in week 5 and not been there to be the other bottom 2-er with Felicity.

It also raises the question of if there were a dance off would the bottom 2 still have been the same?

Although I find the results show an anti-climax, I am glad the dance-off has gone. We cannot assume that in a dance-off situation the judges will always make a clinical and fair decision. In this series and in the past they have clearly shown favouritism and made some dubious decisions.

Sorry, mindyann, but there's no way of avoiding it. If Peter had gone in the first week instead of Goldie, then when would Goldie have appeared in the bottom two? We can only go on what we're given, or else we have to re-run the series in a parallel universe where Goldie, Jimi and Patsy are still battling it out for a place in the final.

Or, as my Grandpa used to say: "If we had ham, we could have ham and eggs, if we had eggs."

I do miss the dance off because it gave the contestants a chance to showcase themselves and be judged for that last dance. It also gave a point to the results show being /2 an hour long.
Unfortunately if the judges had stopped being cross and telling the voters off about who was in the bottom two, then we probably still have the dance off.

As opposed to the public vote which sent the better dancer home in 6 weeks out of 8 and has removed all the people who might have improved early and left nothing between the two most hopeless and the 4 good ones.And we haven't even yet got to the stage when the two worst now have to come bottom, not next to bottom, in the totals to ever go.

Felicity is better than that, but you are right about Gavin.

But the public DON'T like these so called better dancers - go figure.

The voters are not the public. They are the minority of people who feel the urge to vote when most people don't. It only needs about 30% of them to vote for some other sort of show and thats what you will get.

In the case of who goes, its now fixed into the maths that anyone who isn't very good or very bad will go. The good and anyone the voters find attractive will now often pull in 50-60 % of the vote and the vote for the hopeless and the anti-judge vote on most reality shows now hits 30-40 % easily. That leaves everyone else competing for 10-20% with the result that people will go because their tiny vote is less than someone elses tiny vote. The vote actually tells you nothing - because 70% of people might want them to stay over the joke candidates and almost everyone might prefer somone else to go.

I have no idea where you pull these figures from. Whether anybody who votes is right in the head is perhaps a question for the Grey Mare(Pamela). BUT vote they do and decide who they like. Lets be fair the celebs in the main are people pretending to be something they're not and live in a world of make believe. I wouldn't cross the street to talk to any of them.

For example

Week 1 it was Goldie and Peter with Goldie going on public votes. But if there was a dance off would it have been Glodie and Peter or would it have been any of the others?

If we stil had the dance off I would probably watch the Sunday show. It is beyond dull in the current format.

I used to enjoy seeing the bottom 2 couples pull that last bit of effort out from somewhere and dance literally for a place in the show.

It's still recorded Saturday (lets pretend it's Sunday) night.

It would be the same. We see the bottom two couples on a Sunday night.

I think that Gavin was a better dancer than at least Paul, Goldie and Peter and it could be argued was at least the same as Michelle. His Latin is poor, but some of his ballroom has been at least ok.

I think there would always have been a significant gap between Kara, Scott, Matt and anyone else (I don't think Pamela is as good as the judges are telling us she is). I also don't think that Michelle, Felicity and Jimi would have got significantly better so you're just exchanging one poor dancer for another - Gavin.

The only one I could have seen improving would have been Tina, so she's the only good one I feel we've lost when you consider other years when the good have gone out much earlier - Gabby for example.

Thinking... had Tina been saved, we could have had a Jimi/Tina danceoff.

How controversial would THAT have been?

I know. And as it is at the moment it is a waste of 30 minutes

I miss the dance-offs. I know there might be wrong decisions - Gabby left as a result of a judges' dubious decision. Dad dancing won over decent dancing.
