Jane From Eastenders - an absolute god send
Can i just start by saying - that i am in no way any longer, what you could call an eastenders fan. But i just want to show my appreciation to some of the characters in it currently:
The new character Jane who is now running the Cafe is really charasmatic and totally reminds me of Ian's mum Cathy - maybe thats where the appeal lies. I hope she gets some good storylines because i reckon she is a pucka actress. Pat has always been one of my faves and its so unusual to see her without a husband - but like a yoyo she just keeps on bouncing back. I would love to see some of her family come back either David Wickes and his ex-wife Elaine and their pysco son Joe Wickes. Or her ginger and loud Grand duaghter Bianca or hopefully her other son the infamous Simon "wickey" Wickes and his son Peter Beale. I also think that Patrick and Jim are a really god double-act and the whole home brew stoyline - which ended in Jim being blinded for a short while was hilarious. The whole Dot and Lily (the sad bint who fancied jim) stoyline was also great. Dot and Pauline are also really funny together becuase they have had a continuos friendship which has been built on and has lasted centuries (joke) - but being mates for so long is very unusual in Albert Square these days. and can i just say that even though Sharon and Dennis are not blood related - the whole thing is still dodgy and that i am a Sharon and Grant fan - they dont have a nickname do they . Add your own thoughts if you want, bye |

Yeah, I think Jane's a good addition to the show. She's cheerful and a positive influence on the usually gloomy Ian. Bit of humour is always welcome, especially as it's so rare on EE at the moment.

I like Jane but in Eastenders terms she appears to be 'normal' apart from fancying Ian Beale. Keep her in I say.
Pat, you may not have that job very long, try saving some for a rainy day instead of buying the pub drinks etc. |

Im not sure, she has the potential but definately needs more interaction with the rest of the cast this is why these characters keep going wrong! Chrissie on the other hand is just about right!

Im taking bets on how long she will last before she starts to get Alfie Moon syndrome and ends up as depresing as the rest of them. Its only a matter of time before she borrows money from the pantomime gangster and ends up having to sleep with him |

Completly agree with you. Its not EastEnders bashing its fact! Alfie used to be a right larf in the pub and now he is just merely another character of gloom. If you read up TOMMY C there are some people posting quasi positive comments. We'd all prolly watch it if it just wasnt so bloody depressing. It even makes my life look less worse that it is... thats saying something ![]() Taking bets now on how long before she starts pining after Ian even tho ian loves kate. |

I agree completely TOMMY C. You've made your point alan45, it's just always the same crap - give it a chance. Were talking about Jane, there is no need to go off on one YET again.

I agree TOMMY C, lot of posters are saying the same thing in every EE thread they can find. It's irritating because it drags everything off-topic and is anything but constructive. Sharing an opinion is ok, but the same one at every available opportunity? C'mon people! Some open-mindedness please! Jane is one of the few success stories for EE at the moment. Can we at least recognise that much? Actually, mwnn, what's good about Jane is she isn't going down the usual moping road that other characters in love triangles tend to follow. Unlike when Alfie was pining over Kat while she was with Andy, or Sharon when Dennis was with Zoe.. Jane is being supportive, and hiding her feelings. This makes the scenario more interesting than other plots which have been thrown at us, where everyone is unhappy and makes their feelings clear through wailing, door slamming and pouting. Jane really is a breath of fresh air. |

I haven't seen much of EE lately, but what I have seen of Jane I've liked. Nice, normal seeming person, not a glamour girl - someone that you can actually relate to. I just hope, before giving her big storylines, they integrate her in the Square, let the viewer get to know her properly, let her form relationships with other cast members - not just Ian Beale - then when something happens to her - the viewer will actually care. Also, please god no big dark secret in her background.

All Im saying is that I feel they will end up doing something silly with the Jane character as they have done with a lot of the recent characters. And for your information and all you other EE lovers I do not hate EE I just hate what TPTB have done to ruin what was once a great soap.

I tell you whats funny - on that programme - How Soaps Changed The World, they had Maggie thatcher (witch) asking if they will ever have yuppies on eastenders and now 19 years later from what someone has posted a new couple will be coming in at the end of the year and i think they are the yuppie couple people were discussing months back.
