John Sergeant on Question Time on Thursday

John Sergeant on Question Time tomorrow night. Despite weighty current affairs such as Ireland sinking and the euro zone unraveling, it is a pound to a penny that political correspondent John will be asked about she who must not be named. No doubt you can also email a question or comment to David Dimbleby.

If this has to be the choice, who would you rather have on Strictly -- John and Kristina or Ann and Anton?

John and Kristina, without the walk out. I think, thanks to this year's Widdershins, John is almost completely rehabilitated.

One could manage a passable waltz, is genuinely witty and knew when to leave. The other one has none of these attributes.

John's usually quite good on QT - look forward to it

John, I loved watching him dance, the ballroom was delightful, and the latin understated (and so totally hilarious) comedy.

Ann and Anton have nothing on John and Kristina, they're too obviously hamming it up.

However, I do think John let us all down when he resigned, I was gutted when he did that. There again, the people who were so damn nasty and upset his wife bear responsibility for that, no one should have to put up with the amount of vitriol he had thrown at him from all directions.

I thought at the time that he was awful. Now that I've seen what awful truly looks like, I take back everything I ever said about him. And at least he had the good grace to leave when the public wouldn't let the joke go - he knew it was about the dancing even if they didn't. It seems Ann couldn't care less

I agree with everything you've just said.

There was something so endearing about him when he danced - utterly charming. I always found him and Kristina totally captivating to watch, never more so than here.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wa4rlUCv7ec

I still catch myself beaming as I watch them in this dance, and even fill up slightly.... oh I'm a silly old bear......

I loved john and kristina , he actually danced and Kristina made the routines clever enough to be accesable to the public . Ann refuses to dance which leaves poor Anton having to dance around her with little content .

John is intelligent, witty and gentlemanly. He tried hard. His waltz wasn't bad. I can't even begin to compare him with arrogant, egotistical Ann Widdicombe.

"chaired by David Dimbleby in Coventry. The panel are

Danny Alexander,
Nadine Dorries,
Ken Livingstone,
Sir Christopher Meyer and
John Sergeant."

Oh I see it's going to be a typical leftwing panel again.

Oooh! What a terrible dillema!

I think that just about says it for me.

PS I can't believe I'm choosing JS, but that's what it has come to with AW on the show. It's like a case of '...be careful what you wish for...'.

After a lifetime processing anticlockwise on the dance floor you would turn to the left too.

The panel faffed around with uni fee disputes, Wikkileak, the weather, but surprisingly totally failed to ask John the nation's burning issue -- how long the old bag is going to stay.

I like QT, and it was a potentially interesting panel, but I must admit I was disappointed that they didn't bung the Strictly question in at the end. I mean, how hard would it have been to find a bit of time for the burning question of the day?

Thanks loads, saves me looking it up.

Can't believe it wasn't covered though. Perhaps (another conspiracy theory) those at the Beeb didn't want it brought up as they knew JS wouldn't be complimentary?

I thought he was terrific, talked the most sense throughout..in my opinion.

I don't want to start getting into politics though, we come in here to get away from that..or at least I do. It's one of the reasons I dislike having AW on the show..same for any politician, regardless of which particular party they represent.

In his opening introductions David Dimbleby described John with words like "at one time a dancer, but Strictly speaking he was for many years BBC's chief political correspondent" (?)

After this promising start I was expecting the closing light-hearted question to be on the Strictly burning crisis, but it was not to be. I suspect John wants to be respectable again. He does not want to be remembered for controversy and bust-up.

If Kristina had spent 3 months with me I would always fly her flag in the wind.

I don't think it was particularly left wing. Ken Livingstone is well to the left of the Labour party but in his own little world. Danny Alexander could be classed as left with him being Liberal but he has had to join the real world with being in the coalition. Christopher Meyer is not particularly partisan as would be expected from a previously senior diplomat. Some will automatically assume John Sergeant is left because of him being at the BBC previously but I don't think he has got involved in party politics.

Oh take no notice of me I was being ironic. I read the texters on QT and they always insist that it's a left wing panel.

Apart from Ken who is an unreconstructed leftie the rest of them were centre right.
