Stamping on cockroaches
Couldn't Craig or somebody work on Bruce to improve his opening shuffle? It's not in time to the music, looks pretty dire and wastes at least 3 sec of time that could be better spent on a silly joke.
Anyway, just to start up a thread on an entirely new subject. |

I think the silly old fart thinks he's a brilliant dancer (which he never has been) and would not tolerate any criticism from anyone.
I agree, he looks ridiculous, and so does Tesspit! |

Well, let's keep it positive, as was my original suggestion, and ask Bruce to vary his routine week by week (to justify his presenting salary). If he could do a 1-2-3, 1-2-3, or a hip shuffle to a Caribbean rhythm, that would make a welcome change. Very easy to arrange the necessary rhythmic change in the band for those few seconds.

I enjoy what he does. I hope he doesn't change his traditional opening routine.

Every single week the thought "holy crap, he's having a heart attack!" flashes briefly through my mind before I remember that it's just him attempting to dance and I utter a phew. Still better than Ann though.

It's naff, but then Brucie's always been naff - it's sort of reassuring, like an old pair of comfy slippers ..

Dorabella, is this just a way of saying you want Bruce to dance some cucarachas? I hate doing that step and wouldn't expect Bruce to do it at his age. He's better off just doing his tap dancing. routine I think. Does anyone young do tap dancing nowadays? I see sites selling tap shoes for children and so I assume they do. I used to really enjoy it when I was a kid.

What he does now has nothing to do with ballroom or cucurachas! It was a Portuguese viewer last year or the year before who posted up on one of the BBC Strictly boards her question about what on earth Bruce was doing at the beginning of each show. She wondered (ironically) if it might be stamping out cockroaches, and that metaphor stuck in everyone's minds. Ah well, not long to go now/ two more shows, then Bruce will hang up his socks. This year, it seems, will be his last (deduced from hints dropped in interviews earlier this year). And if SCD goes further down the DWTS route with props, Widdys etc, it is unlikely he would want to come back next year. Hence, just two more shows to attempt swan song choreography. |
