I'm not sure I'd give her too much credit for that, because she deserved to go in the second task.

Well, we can all have our own personal opinions as to who should have gone when.

The plain fact is that she was chosen from many thousands of applicants and managed to get further than half of the top sixteen.

I'm absolutely positive that the overwhelming majority of the people here who love to 'join the pack' and pick on a candidate they perceive to be weak wouldn't have got past the first round of the selections.

Well, but the candidates have put themselves up for discussion by going in for the programme, and if we're not to comment on them, adversely as well as positively, then this forum may as well close down.

And while I have no doubt I'd have been supremely incompetent if I ever appeared on The Apprentice, I think I could have avoided some of Laura's childish tantrums - as indeed the younger Junior Apprentice candidates managed to do also.

It's not commenting on candidates adversely that's the problem.

It's the virtually content less posts where people line up to make bitchy comments about candidates just to join in with a load of other saddo's making bitchy comments. (This doesn't apply to you or other posters who make constructive and analytical posts on TA in general.)

But this repeated same-old same-old criticism of a 22 year old who, under absurdly and artificially high pressure, throws the occasional strop (and these have doubtless been carefully highlighted by the producers to make 'good' TV) is pathetic.

Rather the same as the situation with the bagginator who suffers from being 21 and not yet having worked out how to deal with people in certain situations.

Yes, I find him obnoxious on occasion but he's had far less time to observe people dealing with others, particularly in such artificial situations and thus has not yet used role models to adapt successful strategies.

I suppose I just prefer to concentrate on people's better aspects and make allowances for the pressures and difficulties under which they are operating rather than using their bad points as an excuse for continual and excessive negativity.

Fair enough, but then one might say that candidates who are still so immature (we haven't seen most of the other candidates behave like this) aren't really ready yet to be the Apprentice.

Believe it or not, companies often keep and, indeed, value highly, people who throw the the odd strop or are even downright difficult to work with.

I've seen 30+ y/o men who are normally very easy going behave in highly atypical manners in high pressure situations.

Being so young Laura would have been disproportionately affected by the loss of her 'support group' - friends and family with whom the producers only allow extremely limited contact in order to pile on yet more pressure. Certainly that doesn't affect everyone in the same way but it's an artificial condition.

And, let's be honest, Sugar throws a few strops himself!

I don't know that I've ever seen Sugar throw a strop in the sense that Laura does. Indeed I think when he does show any kind of agitation on the show it's usually feigned. The only times I think he genuinely got angry were the chicken pizza disaster in series 2 and the kosher chicken incident in series 4.

It's hardly surprising that a man in his sixties throws strops in a different way to a 22 year old girl.

I often say that people here are way too self satisfied and smug about what they would do in the circumstances in which the candidates find themselves. Those two instances are the exceptions.
