No. Not another Stu Baggs soundbite or quote.

The funniest moment of tonight was the dour, rigid, immoveable tartan seller who drove Stella and Laura into the ground. I can't remember if they started at 30 or40 but he stuck resolutely at £70 with a sombre, dour manner which left the two completely dumbstruck and eventually budged £1 when Stella made the bid for that.

If trade price was really close to £23 he has to be the best negotiator on the show He should be a contestant.

Stella hanging up the phone without saying anything always makes me laugh

lol me too.

Maybe she thinks it's a computerized voice and so she doesn't think there's any point in social pleasantries.

I don't even know if it is a recording or not.

Me three

I was watching to see if she'd do it again. And when she did, I burst out laughing!

I know it's a bit immature and cruel, but I did also chuckle again at the clip of Laura losing her shoe under a taxi on You're Fired

If it isn't you wouldnt want to be Alan Sugars assistant 5 in the morning and she is in the office phoning up the candidates.

Because they were so desperate for it that's why he wouldn't budge

I very strongly suspect that there is no voice at all and it's dubbed on afterwards.

Have you ever wondered why always exactly one person goes to answer the phone?

Even when there are sixteen people in the house there's always just one person who takes in on themselves to answer the phone.

You'd think with all the camera crew setting up to get the answering shot they'd be ready and waiting rather tan sleepily making their way to the phone.

If they are going to fake it, why can't they do a better job?

The tartan price at £23 pounds for 2 metres I think is just impossible. Even for one its way below the trade price after checking on google.

The funniest moment was when Jamie said "Hi, I'm Jamie" and the old guy replied, "I'm Jamie." It was obviously a nervous mistake, and then Jamie went, "You're Jamie too?" And the guy had to admit he wasn't!

It's like once when I said happy birthday to someone, and they said happy birthday back! Then got embarrased.

The phone call usually comes early in the morning. They film tasks back to back, so they are usually desperate for sleep. I think it was mentioned in this episode, how badly they need to sleep. Hence when they hear someone else going for the phone, they just leave them to it. Answering the phone doesn't actually matter: the person who answers it isn't more likely to succeed in the boardroom. Similarly, they aren't going to get out of bed when the film crew arrive, if they can get a few minutes more kip.

Are you really that naive?

Do you really believe that your explanation accounts for there never being two people going to answer it?

And don't you think that if that were really the case then there would not have been at least one instance where the phone rang and rang as everybody thought someone else was answering it?

Oh God, you people with the phone... Can't you tell that they just edit in the voice of Sugar's imaginary secretary each time. We have no idea what Stella heard on the other end.

So do they get like, a mini warning that there'll be a phone call in a few mins, so they start getting up, and then when it rings, someone's sort of ready to answer it?

I only ask because Stella hadn't JUST got out of bed. She had a towel around her and up in her hair, so she must've been up for at least 10 mins. How did she know to wake up at like, 5am?!

Because they'd got a phone call at 5AM on the day of the start of each previous task?

Ah... I see...

So do they do 1 task a week? Again, probably a really stupid question I'm very new to The Apprentice and when I watch it my boyfriend and mum are forever talking over it

We can't really say for certain.

I wouldn't be in the least surprised if they don't just do a batch of those shots right at the beginning (or every few weeks) rather than filming it every time.

Sometimes there are two or more people. Usually the other ones drop back out of shot, but you can see later there are others up and paying attention.

If that has happened, it probably got cut from the edit.

Yes.

Perhaps having the film crews arrive and set up gives them a clue.

Yes, because, of course, they are going to risk that happening and delaying everything rather than doing the obvious in a filmed production and telling someone it's their turn to answer the phone and to get ready for a cue.

Why do you persist in believing that that they are going to trust to happenstance in a filmed scenario when we already know that they cheat and (for example) film all the 'fired candidate leaving' shots in one go. (Which is why they all look as if they have been fired on the coldest day of the decade )

As far as the question of how come it's never happened that nobody answered the phone, it's happened once already. I think it might have been on Junior Apprentice where nobody answered the phone for ages and Surallen ended up telling them off for leaving Pretend Francis waiting.

No, they do 3 a week. One every 2 days with Sundays off.

The Bluebook and Tikka farce made me laugh a lot.

I'll be honest though - I didn't know what the Bluebook was either.

LawdAlan's response to Stuart's inappropritate "generation game" comment was pretty funny.

The plate seller's slurpy kiss on Liz's hand was pretty funny too. Wonder what she would have got if he really dropped the price
