Right.
There's no way that any of that could be staged for the camera.
You've got people moving about the house and a full camera crew operating outside (and inside - Jamie was shown when the phone rang) the bedroom from which one person has already emerged and the camera focuses on someone who seems bewildered that that they've been woken up.
Do me a favour!

“They allow for some slippage in the schedule. Frankly, if it takes an extra 5 minutes because no-one answers the phone straight away and the crew have to wake them up, it's small beer. If you think it really only takes those women 30 minutes to prepare themselves for the camera, you're the naive one.”
You are rather making my point for me.
If they lie to us about the amount of time they have to get ready, why do you insist no believing that there is this one sacrosanct piece of reality?
In the real world - if it was truly; 'as it happens' you would find that there were one or two 'early morning' people who would always be answering the phone because they are already firing on all cylinders whilst the rest were still groggy.
The fact that the answering duties are spread over all the candidates is a dead give away that it's not unstaged.

“There's need for the camera crew to pick who answers the phone.”
I expect it would be the director rather than the crew. It's not necessarily that someone tells them - they may well decide amongst themselves.

“Partly because, in a reality show, seeing who gets up first is part of the fun. If it doesn't go smoothly, that's just more drama for the show.”
Sometimes it's just a little bit too smooth!
This week, for example, Stella was apparently up and washing her hair and yet choose to interrupt that task and go and answer the phone whilst Jamie, who was clearly shown awake (but, bizarrely, seemed puzzled that anyone was phoning) lay in bed.
