How to install embedded software from Sony NWZ-E453
DXRulz

I bought a Sony NWZ-E453 that Windows detects as an MTP device.

It lists it in My Computer and i can click on it and i can view its files.

However when i try to run the installer in the "Media" folder it tells me i can't open files from the device and that i need to copy them to the computer so i think fine i'll do that.

So i do that and then run the installer and it says its going to install so i click next and it says it will back up the installer files from the device to a folder on the C: drive. With that i click next again and it gives me an error saying "The WALKMAN may have been unplugged during copying. The install will now exit"

And that's it, i just get that message every time!

I would guess you need for it to connect as a "mass storage device" rather than the MTP thing.

MTP is very nannying.

Is there a setting in the players menu?

Is this the Content Transfer software by any chance. That seems to be what the online manual for the device suggests is on the machine. If so then it appears you can download a version from the Sony website

Not sure if that will be any easier to install however.

Just download the one from sony. I use the walkman in mpt mode. Its simpler for dumping mp3 files on it...but it is more restrictive as it does not behave like a memory stick anymore. to be honest I don't even use the software from sony, it just auto sorts whatever you copy on t here, and that might not be good if they are not labeled the way it expects. I toss podcasts on mine, and i'd rather they all be in one directory rather than some jumble of album directories,so I just manually copy them into a single directory. Installing mpt or mass storage is a windows side thing, when you first plug it in you have a choice, or you can right click the thing in device manager or something and manually change the driver.
