iphone 4 app store / wifi problems

Got iphone 4 and its really slow to connect and download apps. Facebook and Twitter are very slow to update. Videos from you tube etc very rarely work. All this using the same wifi my wife is using with her iphone 3GS which works fantastic. The phone also drops the wifi for 3g on its own. My broadband is with O2 but run a laptop and x-box on it with no problems.
Any ideas?

Cheers

Her iphone 3GS doesnt have the wireless N standard like the iphone 4 has. So if the router isnt setup correctly the iphone 4 might not perform well.

Is the router a wireless G type do you know? If it is then thats the problem. If it is an N type then have you had a mess around in the routers wireless settings?

Yes it was some thing to do with the n/g/b settings on the router. The apple store at the trafford centre never mentioned this at all which is annoying seeing as forums like this do.
Thanks for the help it feels like i've got a new phone now it works properly!
Thanks again.

People in the shops are usually purely just sales people who know everything about what phones offer but know nothing about anything else. Anyone who half "knows their stuff" about these things arnt paid enough to be in the shops, apparantly cheaper to let customers phone the support lines and even then those people arnt 100% clued up... they just refer you to other departments or companies.

Hi Stylzz - I've the same situation, Wireless N 02 router and a sluggish iPhone 4 on wifi compared to the wifes 3GS that zips along.

When you say it was a n/g/b issue in the setting, can you advise what I need to check? Or did you call O2 support?

Any help in fixing it would be appreciated.
