Lemony potatoes - is this a thing?
parthy

Sometimes I like to have steamed fish with some butter and lemon juice, served with waxy boiled potatoes and veg.

I learned that I love dipping the potatoes in the lemony buttery sauce that forms on the plate. I've told people this and their reaction is usually one of surprise, confusion or disgust. So I wondered, is there any cuisine in the world that features lemony potatoes in some form?

Bloody potaoes aren't a thing either

but nowt better than a saute potato dipped in the juice of a rare steak.

If it makes you ashamed to eat it don't eat it, but I eat what I enjoy and screw the critics.

Ummm no I didn't

It was a general comment about odd food combinations, but if you want to make it about you, then I have no problem with that.

This is a greek recipe for lemon chicken and potatoes that I have used several times and it tastes lovely
Cook Time: 1 hour, 40 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour, 40 minutes
Ingredients:

* 3 1/4 - 3 3/4 pound chicken, cut into quarters
* 3 1/2 pounds of potatoes
* juice from 2-3 medium lemons
* 2 teaspoons of salt
* 1 heaping tablespoon of oregano
* 1/2 teaspoon of pepper
* 8 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
* 1/2 cup of olive oil
* 1 1/2 cups of water
* 1 cup greek white wine
Preparation:

Preheat oven to 355°F (180°C).

Rinse the chicken and pat dry. Peel the potatoes and cut into quarters, lengthwise. Salt and pepper the chicken and potatoes. Transfer chicken to a roasting pan, and add potatoes, on and around the chicken. Add oregano, garlic, olive oil, and lemon juice, distributing evenly across the pan. Add water and wine and roast uncovered at 355°F (180°C) for a total of 1 hour and 40 minutes. Half way through (50 minutes), turn the chicken.

One of my favourites, not exactly a recipe, more just something I made up. I like to call them "Greek Lemon Potatoes"...

Cut potatoes into little cubes, put on a roasting tray. Cover in a good whack of olive oil, salt, pepper, some dried oregano and a good, healthy glug of lemon juice (the bottled stuff is fine). Then stick them in the oven at 200oC until they're golden brown, giving them a shake every 10 mins or so, so they don't stick. Mmmmm....might make them tonight!
