I think it can be somewhat justified in terms of the way the show presented itself this week - she topped the leaderboard this week, the judges procaimed her to be the one to beat, everyone else is on a downward slide after Blackpool and put in sub-par performances (by their standards).
Naturally I think a lot of people would disagree as to whether that is true, or whether it means anything in the long-run, but if this were a sporting event she'd be the favourite, and there's no solid evidence at all that she's not pulling in the public vote.
Really I think they're just trying to keep the last few weeks interesting, and feel wide-open. One minute Matt's the favourite because he won in Blackpool and he dominates It Takes Two, now it's Pamela because she's the only one not being subject to the Blackpool Blues. Ups and downs, swings and roundabouts. It'll probably be someone else after this weekend.
Might be contrived, but it's better than last series, when their storylining was saying "Ricky and Ali are the Judges Favourites, but Chris is the People's Favourite so who will win the public vote in the final????" over and over again.
