Three IPad prices

No I am not a fan of 3. (I hate them with a passion). But it would seem that if you want a IPad on a contract then 3 is offering a better deal then elsewhere. Compared to T-Mobile and Orange offering you 2GB (at select times) then 3s deal is really good .15GB of data use any time. If this makes up for the poor coverage and lousy support from 3 only you can decide.

I can't see why anyone would want to buy an iPad right now.

If the rumours are correct, you're only four months or so away from the next generation iPad, which by all accounts will be a fair bit better. I appreciate Apple want you to buy it, no doubt they've got a lot of stock and they'd like to redress the Market's disappointment that sales of the iPad failed to reach forecast - but surely the sensible thing to do would be to wait a while and get a much better device?

Yes. The problem was they couldn't make them quick enough. Gosh. Quite the problem.

There is no surplus of stock.

Poor coverage? I've had no problems in the Newcastle area, and Three say they have the best 3G coverage of any network provider (as that is what they concentrate on, mobile internet over 3G and faster). I think Three get their 2G coverage from someone else and that ain't so good, but you really want 3G wherever possible with something like the iPad. If you are going to be out of any 3G coverage frequently, then another provider may be better, but it's not going to be much fun.

As others have said though, wait for the 2nd gen iPad.

You're kidding. After the first three weeks, the shelves have been packed at my local Apple store without ever once selling out. Don't believe the hype.

Perhaps. But remember the iPad hit the uk a month after it's US debut, to ease shortages and allow production to ramp up.

Edit: I use a Three MiFi and a Vodafone phone, and Three seem to be more consistent with 3G coverage than Voda, but only in urban areas. If that makes sense.
