Can't abide it when they do it on DWTS. The choreography is always crap and repetitive, there's no energy, it's confusing to watch, the scoring's always biased, and it counts for more or less nothing. Bad idea, IMO, bad, bad idea.
Having seen it on DWTS it does have its faults, but at least we can compare and contrast couples doing the same dance at the same time before the final.

agree. Also Len is doing the marking..which puts power in his hands
Whoever is left of Ann or Gavin will get 1 point. If they're both left Ann will get 1, and Gavin will get 2. If Pamela's still there I would guess she'd be next. Which leaves Matt, Kara and Scott (or two of them) to fight over getting 3, 4, or 5 points ie a 2 point advantage. For an ENTIRE DANCE. What a waste of bloody time.

To be fair, I don't need to see Ann in a swingathon to have a pretty good idea how she'll compare
I like the dance marathons, although the couples eliminated early on are a bit predictable.
On SCD because we have our fab four and it will be interesting to see how the judges place them.
There are two things that go through my mind when I'm watching a marathon on DWTS - the pros out dance their celebs like there is no tomorrow and, even if a less able celeb is doing well, the judges still get rid of them early.
I think it will separate the men from the boys. Anne Gavin and Pamela (whoever is left) will all go out first leaving the best three. I suspect of those 3 Kara will last the longest followed by Scott and then Matt.

Yes, but without the "tap on the shoulder and you're out" element, IIRC.
Didn't like them all dancing at once last year with the VW, so doubt if I'll like the swingaton this year.
With the VW last year all the judges seemed to be looking down at their desks or talking to each other, so how did they reach their marks if they weren't watching properly?
To me it smacks of an extra chance to manipulate the leader board.
I must be in a minority as I love that type of dancing! I like the moves, the costumes, the music - everything - BUT I also think it's very difficult to do well and there aint no way A&A could even attempt it.
