dilemma .. ideas most welcome .. bit of a long 'un ..
My HTC Desire died due to the rebooting issue.
I booked it in with HTC for a repair, and they booked a pickup from UPS. Due to the weather, the local UPS branch can't get anyone out to me - they keep phoning, apologising and re-booking it for the same time the following day. Happened for 4 successive days now and they've rebooked again for monday. I know it's an impossible situation due to the weather and their drivers not turning up for work, but it doesn't help me. I can't wait in every day on the off chance they might turn up or make it through the snow, so if they don't turn up on monday, which i'm not really expecting, i'll arguably be forced to try re-booking it for the following week and trying once or twice a week to see if they can make it. This obviously takes me ever closer to christmas and the distinct possibility I won't get this in to the repair centre until the new year, and potentially even not see the phone until late January. Now, the dilemma being this. I do need a mobile for various reasons, some medical related. I don't know anyone who has a spare I can borrow and I certainly can't afford to buy another one.- even paying £11 quid for one of those £1 phones in the Carphone Warehouse, with the addtional top-up, would be a stretch at the moment. So do I have any options ?. The only one I see at the moment is trying to persuade someone to sell me one of those cheap phones without the top-up. Phones4u, where I got the phone initially, do offer a repair service but I don't think i'll really gain much placing the phone with them as they'll probably have the same issue with couriers. They only offer a like-for-like exchange within 28 days as well, and i've had the phone 6 months. Sorry for waffling on, if you've got this far without falling asleep then thankyou

Let us know whereabouts in the UK you are and you might find someone on here nearby who would be willing to lend you a spare. I'm in South London and happy to lend you one of my spares if you're anywhere in the area.
