Nokia seem to spend lot time ripping off other brand designs

I've never had Nokia - I understand they're easy to use (my 75 yr old Mum has one) but always found them quite Un-inspiring

Always had Sony Ericssons in the past because I liked the design/look

In every case Nokia unashamedly just ripped off the SE design

I recently got Blackberry with my company - which I'm luvvin BTW - I've had it for over 3 months and i still cant put it down

Then I see this Nokia rip off today

I cant understand how such high profile business can get away with it

P.S. This is a 'general' observation & not a techy question hence i posted here

They all do it. Nokia used to be the biggest. Everyone had a Nokia. Times have changed and Nokia are lagging, so they need to keep up with the times and copy.

It's not just technology. I think all industries copy each other. Fashion, entertainment, banking etc etc etc. Nothing is original any more.

Long gone are the days where every man and his dog had some variation of a Nokia phone with snake and a grey LCD screen with a green/blue backlight, and interchangeable covers

Nokia actually started the whole qwerty phone thing btw and that is not their first Candybar (or blackberry formfactor to you) either. And by that logic blackberry just copied the palm pre with the blackberry torch.

RIM can't be too bothered by it - Nokia is the only mobile manufacturer to licence the entire BlackBerry system.

A lot of their E-series phones can (with BIS/BES addons) connect to BIS or BES servers.

It was Blackberry that copied the form factor from other manufacturers.
The Blackberry innovation was in the managed service not the handset.
If you look at patents, it's Nokia and Samsung who do the innovating and other companies who license the technology.
