Oh no, I've only just seen this this post. I look out for the Aids Gala every year as I've really enjoyed it in the past, but I didn't notice it in the schedule. It's been broadcast earlier than usual this time. Fingers crossed it's repeated.

(Did they have the wonderful deadpan Max Raabe presenting again?)

Gounod’s Faust– New Production

December 10, 2011, 12:55 pm ET

With Jonas Kaufmann in the title role, René Pape as the devil, and Marina Poplavskaya as Marguerite, Gounod’s classic retelling of the Faust legend couldn’t be better served. Tony Award-winning director Des McAnuff updates the story to the first half of the 20th century with a production that won praise in London last season. Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts on the heels of his Don Carlo success.

20:15 CET = 19.15 UK time....

Because we watch/record mainly German and French channels on our box I actually set the clock an hour ahead of UK time so that I don't have to do the conversion all the time.

The UK cinemas are listing it as starting at 18.00.

I'd really like to catch this one, "Faust" is a favourite of mine.

It works for me, I got fed up missing the start of things or worse a whole hour.

Yes the Met broadcasts are... hopefully my box will catch it and just as importantly STOP when it's finished. When it's recording in HD it soon fills the disk up if the damn thing doesn't stop as it's done a couple of times now.

The signal should be starting up any time now.

It's listed in the BBC radio 3 schedule as 18.00 - 22.10 by the way.

Edited to add I've got it.

Yes French and Spanish subtitle versions... I've gone for French.

I haven't bothered checking 0.8W which usually carries English subtitles as the signal was poor the last couple of times I tried. People with bigger dishes might have more luck...

Fine on 0.8W with English subtitles. Not overly keen on the production but the singing and acting was brilliant.
