Natalie Dessay as Violetta would be enought to convince me! I saw her on Arte, in a production from Aix en Provence. She is superb.
Did you catch the live broadcast last year of her in Lucia Di Lammermoor?

It was absolutely brilliant... and although we can pick these up free on the feeds I'd definitely recommend seeing some of them on the big screen too as you get a bit more of the atmosphere of a live performance. Or at least I thought so and I do like to think I'm also helping to support the art occasionally.

PS. Feeds coming through already for today's show - see previous page/s for details.

Traviata - lovely music and singing, especially Dmitri, but that awful set! If I had paid hundreds of dollars for a seat I would be very disappointed ,in fact reading some of the American reviews, the production got booed on opening night ..

Absolutely agree. Apalling ugly production should never have been allowed out of Salzburg. A few more productions like that and the Met. Opera broadcasts are finished.

Regards to all,

No, I missed that I did see her live a few years ago, playing Olympia, the doll in "tales of Hoffman" at the Choregies d'Orange. She's not only a great singer, but a very talented comic actress!

Don't forget Rigoletto tonight. Starts in cinemas at 19.15 UK time.

I'll have to watch out for the live feed details as the last time I tried to catch streaming from the ROH I couldn't get Thor 1W. (I did get it on Atlantic Bird 5W eventually, but had missed the first half hour.)

Nope, can't get it here. I'm watching for something to come up on Thor/Intelsat at .8W or Atlantic Bird at 5W.

Last time details for .8w were

Frequency 11530
SR 12890
Polarisation V

Nothing coming through at the moment though.

According to satelliweb its on AB3 but looks like a repeat of La Traviata to me!

Where on AB3 please? It's probably just a test at the moment.

That's another Intelsat feed. (I'm watching satelliweb too.) Unfortunately I'm not getting any signal on either of the feeds listed.

Sorry, I replied to the wrong post before. I'm still playing around and found the feed you mentioned. You're right, it's a repeat of the Met broadcast. Handy to know for the future though!

I also now have more channels than I'll ever need on Intelsat 905, but neither of the transponders mentioned on satelliweb are producing any signal at all!

I was told once that for some people their hobby is chasing the live feeds. Wouldn't be my thing, but if it keeps them happy..........

She was brilliant in that role and of course it has found its way onto YouTube....

Regards to all,
Personally I found it concentrated the mind on the music and performances...

As I say I was surprised that it worked for me, as I much prefer traditional staging for most opera, but it just did.

A quick heads up here as I've stumbled across this just now, on...

Intelsat 905 (24.5°W)

11666 H SR14400

There appears to be a concert playing some George Gershwin music. At least I hope it is

Much easier than it used to be, stick your receiver on blindscan and hope for the best

A £40 HD Ross box from B&Q I've found to have fantastic blindscan for the price, finding everything I get from equipment 3x that. That and for £40 you get a 60cm dish an LNB and some coax.

To me its finding the feeds and finding out what's on them and why they're there.

what I was querying was that satelliweb showed ROH on AB3 5W, but when I tuned to the frequency shown it was a repeat of La Taviata . How does the information provider get it so wrong ?

The thing is it's not being reported by any official source and the channel name/ID broadcast isn't usually as helpful as the Met broadcasts...

The feed I mentioned two posts above for example was labelled ITINFI CH4 HD which isn't that helpful in identifying the content. I just happened to recognise some of it as the music of George Gershwin, whereas satelliweb had described it as "Italian Opera" when I looked it up afterwards.

A little bit of research has revealed it was this: George Gershwin: Orchestral from Filharmonica Della Scala http://www.culturefox.ie/event/filar...hwin/8728.aspx

I think it might be tonight (22nd), as it's listed as a live broadcast, so keep an eye open on the feeds

Also for ballet fans, on 16 May 2012 there should be La Fille mal gardée LIVE

I think this transmission is for cinemas in America. The UK broadcast was on Tuesday 17, but according to satelliweb was on 24.5West

The odd thing is that it is supposed to be shown across the USA today in cinemas but it is now coming up to 2pm on the Eastern side and still no times are shown on ROH live cinema. Don't understand !
