On Thor 0.8W I had English subtitles throughout on 11471V and also on 11494V (at least it said English on the pre-performance test transmission).

Thanks for the replies.
I had scanned all three feeds, but having rechecked the recording, have realised,I had selected the Russian feed for the timer recording.

There appear to be a series of Mozart operas on TVP Kultura. They're on in the middle of the night and flicking through the EPG, they seem to be every day.

All times are British

22nd Idomeneo 02.10 - 04.55
23rd Die Entführung aus dem Seraglio 01.20 - 0405
24th Il re pastore (I think - I don't speak Polish) 03.00 - 04.55
25th Marriage of Figaro 01.20 - 04.45

That's as far as my EPG went.

(Gneiss, the one on 25th might be of special interest to you. Netrebko is mentioned in the blurb.)

Well spotted, Annied, I would not have thought of trawling through the Polish programmes for the middle of the night

The one on the 24th is Rex Tremendus, which is a trilogy of extracts of various Mozart compositions, some of the early operas and the Requiem. Not very often performed.

Both TVP Kultura and Duna (9E),show Opera and Classical concerts during primetime hours,in addition to this scheduled overnight showing.
Best to check their individual websites schedules,

The text is prettier in Russian

To be honest when you asked I couldn't really remember the subtitles, I'm sort of aware of them without really taking them in most the time... I usually have the French subtitles on 5W anyway, but this time the signal on 0.8W stayed good for me.

I tend to read up the synopsis beforehand if I don't know it and then rely on that to follow the plot.

I'll make sure I record it, thanks

Duna is excellent for classical concerts, although the picture quality sometimes leaves a bit to be desired... It's a pity they moved it, I found it more convenient when it was on the other satellite.

The ballet is more my wife's thing than mine...

It's a kind of mutual tolerance, I'll watch the ballet with her and she watches the opera with me

Sounds a bit one- sided to me, ten times as much opera as ballet

Not enough of either in my book, and the British channels are a joke as far as both are concerned. It's really rather sad in my opinion because I'm sure more coverage would generate more interest. People can't develop a liking for something they are never exposed to.

I especially enjoyed Diana Damrau, I thought that first act aria was stunning.

The last transmission was on 0.8W 11530V12890 but if they don't use this one keep your eye on Satelliweb

Yes, when I saw the opening scene my first reaction was "Oh no, why?" but as was said in the interval the setting was almost academic to the way it was performed...

Overall I enjoyed it
