I think I have it all, it certainly recorded something but my box has a habit of cutting off the end when I set it from the epg!

My Ross box has a similar fault, but I think it is caused by the timeclock being erratic-sometimes it is wildly wrong and I have to reset it frequently, it also affects the elapsed time when recording.
Lot of goodies coming up, http://www.odeon.co.uk/odeon-plus/

Indeed it is: Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia - November 22, 2014, 12:55 pm ET

I think I have it all, it certainly recorded something but my box has a habit of cutting off the end when I set it from the epg! I'm not sure what format it's in, a .TS file I think but I could probably figure a way to get it to you.
Would be great if you could find a way of retrieving it...I can cope with .ts files

As a matter of interest was it Manon? or Manon Lescaut. I ask because recently Kaufman and Opolais did Manon Lescaut AT ROH.( Awful production, but the singers as always were sensational)

Regards to all,

There is a live broadcast of Beethoven's Fidelio from La Scala at 19.15 GMT on Arte, 19E this Sunday, 7th December. An excellent cast including Klaus Florian Vogt (Florestan), Anja Kampe (Leonore), Peter Mattei (Don Fernando), Falk Struckmann (Don Pizarro) and Kwanchul Youn (Rocco). Conductor is Barenboim. It is scheduled to finish at 22.00. Definitely worth a watch.

Just found Hansel & Gretel ("Hans & Greta") by Humperdink from Sweden on 0.8W 11474 V labelled as "FHP Live Hans och". Looks to have started at 1500 GMT. Nice production but only original language.

He's been my current favourite for a while. He seems to appear at Munich quite regularly and I'm hoping that, sooner or later, he'll be singing there when I'm on one of my extended trips to Bavaria.

On the Odeon plus write-up about this transmission it says "now being seen for the very last time" What does this mean do you think? http://www.odeon.co.uk/odeon-plus/

The way I read it is simply that it's the last performance of that particular production. (Perhaps the scenery and props have worn out after 40 years!!)

Last Meistersinger I saw, I found tedious and far too long, so I might just record it.

This is still the best production ever....I dread to think what they might replace it with.

Well hopefully not some dreadful "modern" adaptation where Rodolfo finds out Mimi has died via facebook! Though I really wouldn't put it past them....

Thanks for this. As far as I know ARD is a television company but I am not aware of an ARD channel. I can't find this on my usual sources, so please provide any more information you may have.

Be warned that this is the notorious Baumgartner production where events take place in an industrial recycling plant! Elisabeth eventually expires by entering a biogas tank. Apparently this production is being retired early, see http://bachtrack.com/review-tannhaus...th-august-2014 .

What a shame to do this to Tannhauser. There was much discussion on the subject of 'modern' productions, particularly after Aida earlier in the year.In my opinion Tannhauser contains one of the most beautiful songs that Wagner composed, The song to the evening star. If you cannot bring it to mind its here-
