Also the German Arte is significantly better picture quality-wise as it has a high bitrate along with being at full resolution, whereas the French version is at half resolution (544x576) and always looks pretty soft to me!
I love the German channels PQ, really put's 'our' channels to shame

Do you have both Arte frequencies scanned in?
As only 10743H,gives a seven day epg,11934V only provides now/next epg,on Astra 1.
Hi, yes I do it seems to be an issue with my box at the moment as it's not working on a lot of channels where I know it used to before but I can get by for the time being.

This might be worth a look...

With a program of Italian opera arias - including Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, Francesco Cilea, and - demonstrates the world-class soprano Anja Harteros her vocal and stylistic diversity.

Something similar was happening to me. I was convinced it was my receiver as I've had so many problems with it in the past. Before I went back to the supplier guns blazing however, I called in the installer. Turned out I had a faulty LNB. Now it's been replaced, signal strength is up and all the channels I was having problems with are fine. When I expressed some surprise that the LNB needed replacing after just over a year, he said that they only came with 6 month guarantees and that while some lasted for years, others could develop problems within a few months.

This might be worth a look...

That sounded interesting. PIty it was broadcast the one day I came here later than usual! Oh well, serves me right for not checking my TV guide. No doubt it'll be repeated somewhere, sometime.

It's next Sunday

My box seems to have sorted itself out when I checked after my last post so fingers crossed on that.

With the epg not populating, its a good idea to either scan the transponder or delete the transponder and then re-add it,and then rescan.
Usually it will then repopulate the full epg, with the latest information.
Its a common problem that occurs with all FTA receivers, unfortunately.
I know,i've experienced the same this week,as well.

In that case, I'll definitely be setting the recorder.

I'm not with it at the moment! I've just had some work done on the house and my mind's on that and all the clearing up it's entailing. I "did" the television corner earlier today and couldn't understand why, when I later switched the television on, it said there was no signal. It was only after I'd checked all the cables 3 or 4 times that it occurred to me that as the signal intially comes in via the satellite receiver, it would be a good idea to switch that back on too!

Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a go if I get any more problems...

I have to admit I don't often rescan as it changes all the channel numbers and takes me ages to find them again.

Ever since we got back from the Take That concert on Friday my brain has been totally scrambled too - I think I've decided I'm too old for all that now!!!

Oh as an aside, I've seen lots of ads for Pop Star To Opera Star this weekend! It starts at 8pm next Sunday and it looks like Rolando is doing it again this year

Bet it was a really good evening though!

That's good news, even if I've only heard of 3 of the performers! Poor Rolando though. I imagine that, this time last year, he was hoping to be back in the major opera houses by now.

By the way, is it possible to save your channel list onto a memory stick so you can get them back into the order you like more or less at the touch of a button? I've had to do so many factory resets thanks to my glitschy receiver that I'd have been demented if I hadn't been able to save mine.

Yes it was a brilliant show...

He's done a few concert tours, I've seen him a couple of times at the RFH - He seemed in good voice but of course that's a lot more forgiving than a full opera... He must miss it though and I'd love to see him back with Anna but I'm just not sure that's going to happen in the near future.

I'm not sure my budget box allows me to do that but I'll have a flick through the options...

Just to say double check the time on this! The guide states 12.55 but my box says 11.55, usually the two match so it's a bit odd...

I saw him at the first night of Werther a few weeks ago. His voice was a bit tentative, but on the whole not too bad - considering.

Regards to all,

Regards to all,
I'm not sure how I managed to miss the fact that was on but he had some pretty good reviews I see - and good to see him back in a full production.

PS... By strange coincidence only the other day watched a 2010 production of Werther staring Sophie Koch, Anne-Catherine Gillet, Jonas Kaufmann, Ludovic Tézier.

Thanks for the heads up. I've just programmed it into the timer.

I wonder which one it is, there's no EPG for CNBC on my receiver and their website doesn't give any detail either.

I wonder why they split it into two parts, it's not exactly a challenging opera to watch...

CNBC Performance will showcase full-length performances of renowned opera and ballet by some of the world’s most prestigious companies.
Sunday 12th June: La Traviata
A classic from the Royal Opera House archives. In 1994, theatre director Richard Eyre was invited to Covent Garden, to work with Sir Georg Solti and a young Romanian soprana - Angela Gheorghio. The result was perfection - an unforgettable production of Verdi's tragic masterpiece

Thanks, you delved a bit further than me, I just looked at the schedule and there was no link to further info. Now I know a bit more, I've now googled it and found that Frank Lopardo and Leo Nucci also appear. I remember seeing Frank Lopardo a couple of years prior to this performance and liked his voice very much.

I got it for a couple of hours, but then a sign came up saying it was scrambled again. I wonder if it's become one of those channels where some programmes are scrambled and some aren't?

As its normally a permanently encrypted(scrambled),pay channel.
It was most likely a technical fault, which resulted it being temporarily FTA.
However,it does seem to become FTA for a few hours/days,every few months.
