That's exciting! Good luck if you're doing it yourself though. I take the coward's way out and get the installers in!

Apparently my mount needs replacing too... I had a feeling this project would grow!

Anyway I got to thinking, this morning in fact, that I don't even check the ZDF listings any more - they used to be the first ones I looked at

And just to refresh as we are on a new page...

SATURDAY, 23 JULY

Documentary: A Village Opera makes grand entrance in small Leppin rbb 18:32, 28 min – your guess is as good as mine on this! Repeated on Monday 25th July.

Opera: Telemaco ossia L'isola di Circe Schwetzingen Festspiele 2011 SWR 3Sat 20:15, 125 min

FRIDAY, 29 JULY

Opera: Die Frau ohne Schatten re-live, Salzburg Festival 2011 3Sat clock 20:15, 185 min

Thanks Annied for those two...

PS. No Sunday performance on CNBC this week

Things are never straightforward, are they?!

On a different tack, is anyone else interested in the documentaries that crop up from time to time? I've seen excellent ones about composers, artists and training programmes.

The Village Opera one looks interesting, although I suspect it'll be more about how the village pulls together to mount the opera than anything else. (As they've chosen Purcell's King Arthur, that'll suit me very well!)

There should have been a documentary on Arte a few days ago, "The Beauty of the Voice", about a young singers' programme in Zurich. I've just checked it on my HDD and for some reason it was replaced by another programme (ballet) and will now be shown at a later date.

What are they up to? Come to think of it I haven't seen a single opera ad on CNBC for a few weeks now, so I wonder are they slowly giving up on it? Unless that's just for the summer and they're gonna be showing it again in the Autumn.

Saw an ad for opera on CNBC this evening while watching NBC Nightly News, apparently CNBC Performance returns in September. I guess I was right then about them not showing it over the summer.

I occasionally watch them but not being great on languages is a bit of a disadvantage... at least if it's on Arte (French version) my wife can follow it and then explain any of the bits I miss...

Well I guessed they were just taking a break from it for the summer, maybe it gets less viewers than it would in the winter. Good luck with the dish motor installation

It's been put off as I have had to order another mounting bracket... the one I have on the wall at the moment just isn't sturdy enough.

Will you have to wait until next weekend to fit it now, or can you wangle some free time during the week?

Thanks Rob...

I'm only guessing but it might be the Bayreuth Festival, where they basically just play the music of Richard Wagner.

It goes on for about a month, 25th July to 28th August.

There's more about the Israeli orchestra's participation here. http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisf...estra-bayreuth

Completely off topic, but I also noticed Kabel Eins have a new series coming up where 2 workers from Germany swap places with 2 workers abroad. On the second show, 2 taxi drivers from Mumbai swap places with 2 taxi drivers from Bad Tölz. Can't wait to see that one!

Thanx, and just to prove that I do get TV Today, what do you think of that little, very small football fixtures booklet that came with it glued to page 3?

I used to like Goodbye Deutschland too, you know where German people moved abroad to foreign lands

I'm not into football, so it didn't really mean much to me I'm afraid.

I watched "Goodbye Deutschland" for a while too. In fact I'm not really sure why I stopped. The ones where they moved to unusual countries could be really interesting. I did get a bit suspicious when a couple who'd been on it trying to set up a fashion business in the USA suddenly turned up in "Mieten, Kaufen, Wohnen" though.
