I'm not into football, so it didn't really mean much to me I'm afraid.
I watched "Goodbye Deutschland" for a while too. In fact I'm not really sure why I stopped. The ones where they moved to unusual countries could be really interesting. I did get a bit suspicious when a couple who'd been on it trying to set up a fashion business in the USA suddenly turned up in "Mieten, Kaufen, Wohnen" though. seriously I remember that show too, that was made by RTL too me thinks? so they probably got in touch with RTL again after USA failed. There are so many faked TV shows on German TV it's unbelievable ![]() ![]() ![]() do you ever watch the 'Richter' shows? My apartment block in Germany was on one of those shows one night, i was in bed watching TV with lady friend and we saw our place being watched by the G.A.G (the apartment police of housing authority), and Sat1 were with them making a show. It's a long story ![]() so I can confirm that one German TV reality show was actually REAL

If I remember rightly, they were still trying to get their business in the US off the ground, but wanted a pied a terre in Germany. Both programmes are on Vox I think.
I haven't watched any of the Richter shows, but I do often wonder where they find some of the characters in their reality series. I used to watch "Mitten im Leben" and a couple of years ago, some of the episodes could be fascinating. Others were downright hilarious. I stopped watching when it seemed to degenerate into nothing but relationship problems. |

To much of these 'reality' shows are faked, but they are not even faked good, the writing/storyboard for instance is downright childish and the acting so over the top, OK the Germans they are all blah blah that bit is really true but on these shows its so overboard, a very good example you gave in 'Mitten im Leben' Thanx.

I've remembered why I stopped watching "Goodbye Deutschland". Wasn't that the programme that turned into the Danielle Katzenberger show? I quite enjoyed her first time round, but once was enough!

Now motorised and ready to rock and roll....
![]() I was even in time to record tales of Hoffman, the downside is that having rescanned it started recording the wrong thing, so I set it manually and cut the ending off! Now busy adding "new" satellites...

![]() I just create a little spreadsheet with the channels I normally need... Incidentally I stumbled across Otello very late last night as I was flicking through all my "new" channels. RAI on hotbird. |

A few more courtesy of TV Today which arrived this afternoon. (I may have missed some as my eyes start glazing over after a while.)
All times are British times. Already mentioned, "Tales of Hoffman" on 3Sat 30th July 19.15 - 2200 "Mefistofele" by Boito on ZDFkultur Thur 4th Aug 14.10 - 16.40 Documentary "Domingo, My Greatest Roles" on 3Sat Sat 6h Aug 19.15 - 20.00. (I'm pretty sure I saw this only a few months ago.) Documentary, Edita Gruberova - the art of bel canto Arte Mon 8th Aug 21.30 - 22.25 Aida am Rhein 2010 live performance from Basel ZDFkultur Thu 11th Aug 20.30 - 23.05. I found more info about it here. http://opera-cake.blogspot.com/2010/...-at-rhine.html Completely off topic, but I also noticed Kabel Eins have a new series coming up where 2 workers from Germany swap places with 2 workers abroad. On the second show, 2 taxi drivers from Mumbai swap places with 2 taxi drivers from Bad Tölz. Can't wait to see that one!

The opera version of the Shakespeare play? If so I know the story as I read Othello (as the play is called) at school. I liked it, it wasn't as "heavy" as some of the other Shakespeare plays. I still have my Othello book with all the notes I made in it.
Otello is simply the Italian spelling. |

Just got around to watching the first show (the swap with 2 Namibian car mechanics) and it was really interesting and entertaining. Definitely a series to follow.
I think I've got it all right, so let me know if you had any problems.

I haven't downloaded it to the DVD recorder yet, it's been rather busy here, but I'll put you down for a copy when I do.
I was really quite miffed when I discovered I hadn't got it, especially after rushing my motor installation to be finished in time...

No problem. Have you been caught up checking out all your new channels and, most importantly, have you found anything interesting?!
