Time to stop the joke contestants now

It's gone too far with Ann Widdecombe.

If the BBC want any credibility with this programme it really does have to stop now.

I am sorry but I do not find it funny. If someone like Pamela Stephenson or Matt Baker went tomorrow and this heffalump was still in it will be just beyond rubbish and beyond stupid.

I agree, I think its been great but its time for her to go.
Last week Wagner on Xfactor and now its Widdys turn

I agree she should go. She has never been any good.

If the BBC was concerned about SCD having creditability then Christopher Parker would have been the first and last non dancing celebrity.

Would be nice if they cared a bit more.

She is only there to make Pamela Stephenson look halfway reasonable and less like a dancing sack of potatoes...........................................

There are only 14 minutes left to vote Gavin and Scott (Matt will be safe with his large following). Ann will be gone if she cannot climb above either.

Vibes from Betfair betting exchange is that Ann will be back next week.

Which means gavin will go. Shame when this has been his best week.
How will anne cope with three dances next week? As Anton said the three dances will all be the same. very sad on those who are dancing so well .
If anne stays and Kara goes.......will that be strictly fair?

Sorry, I think that is unfair. There is a huge difference between Anne and pamela's dancing.pamela is not a sack of potatoes, and I would not be so rude as to call anne that either, but compared to all the female dancers, she certainly is not light footed.

Oh get a grip. A competition with 14 equally good dancers would be, as Ann rightly said on ITT, incredibly tedious. Stop bloody moaning and enjoy what's on offer. I'd really love to see if you can do any better if you were a contestant.

There's too much snobbery and a lack of humour in this forum.

If the BBC wanted credibility they would not have replaced Arlene with Alesha, who may be a stunning dancer but is just not experienced enough to judge!

Whatever dance is advertised, it consists of Ann getting lifted going round a circle, the only difference is whether it is clockwise or anticlockwise.

With three dances they need a third option. How about Anton throwing her up in the air and catching her?

the joke was funny at the start but it's not funny now i'm not being a snob but if you tell a joke to many times people know the punchline and it becomes unfunny

And if you miss hearing what dance she is performing you've got no chance of working it out by watching. Everything is the same. stomp stomp, twirl around, chuck on floor. Classy.....not

What has snobbery got to do with it? If I wanted to see a clown I'd go to the circus. I totally disagree with Ann's comments about the competition being tedious without rubbish dancers. The beauty of the programme is seeing people getting better every week and putting their all into becoming the best dancers that they can. Some obviously become much better than others and its fabulous seeing people becoming great dancers. At no time should we be expected to except someone deciding they can't be bothered to try to dance well, do the steps and positions necessary for the dances, and tell us its not a dance competition.

Get it back to a dance competition BBC.

Since when did anyone say it had to be a competition with 14 equally good dancers?! It has never been that, but what it has always been is a competition with people who at least try to dance and respect that what they are there to do is learn the art of ballroom and Latin American dancing. Not to pick and choose what steps they learn or don't learn, refuse to learn basically an entire genre and make no attempt to refine technique at all.

Dancing is enjoyable, stomping around the floor and claiming all the public like you is not.

...or not catching her...

It might be the only way to get rid of her.

I like the "joke" contestants. I still have fond memories of Julian, Chris and JS. The important difference between all three of them and Ms Widdicombe is that they were genuinely trying and I could see their improvement and I KNEW what dance they were trying to do. They were also naturally funny guys who were quick witted and gave as good as they got without coming across as rude and arrogant. From the very beginning Anne made it quite clear that there were dances she was not going to do and for that reason I have very little respect for anything she's done on the show.
