Seems amazing now that Stacey didnt win last year
She had the best voice of the finalists, romped a show that is essentially a popularity contest.
However voice and personality were not enough, however it was all about Cowell wanting to get a male winner last year, clearing something he does not want this year.

She's lovely and deserves all her success, nobody has a bad word to say about her. She should have beaten Olly, at least.

Quite a few people claimed at the time that her personality was all just an act, how wrong they were!

I agree, Stacey was my winner last year
![]() I just watched last night's IAC and shed a couple of tears She's such a lovely, sweet, genuine girl. Her voice is amazing too, I wish she'd released something. I'll never forget her singing Who Wants To Live Forever.

I think that Joe won because he was the best technical singer - and quite often in the final this is what the floating voters go for - earlier in the competition it is a lot about popularity and personality.
I think my case is bolstered by the fact that when Stacey went on a show which is PURELY a popularity contest (IACGMOOH) - she won it. By a fair margin I understand. Bless her, she was SO pleased.

I wonder if they will mention her win on the show tonight.
I have a feeling Stacey not winning last year may come back to haunt Cowell in the future |

I do hope she can get good work on the back of this now. I don't think she's massively ambitious but she wants the best for her little boy and who can blame her. Maybe TV work rather than singing is the way to go for her.

I didn't think Stacey sang all that well in the last few weeks - they went the 'diva' route with her image and her songs which worked against her personality, which seems to have been her strongest point. I remember people commenting on that at the time.
X factor is only a stepping stone, looking at the last few years you don't have to win to do well out of it. In the BBC Andrew Lloyd Webber shows everyone in the final 12 seems to end up doing well. I think they do make more of an effort to mentor people when they leave the show than X factor does though. |

I'm not sure about who should have won between Olly and Stacey, but Joe certainly shouldn't have. He's going nowhere. Actually, thinking about it, Olly should probably have won, with Stacey second. Still, Olly's career seems to be going well and Joe's still putting his running shoes on, so I guess the right result was achieved eventually.

His final margin win of over 60% of the votes is the highest of any of the series. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_X_Factor_(UK_series_6) Joe in the public mind was actually one of the favorites. The media might spin stories about Danyl, Stacey, and Jedward, but it was clear that Joe stayed focused to win the competition. Give props to Joe, he proved himself every step of the way - great performances throughout and the public liked him from the very start. And he didn't use any sympathy votes, dancer votes, production votes, media votes, and manipulation. He just went on stage to prove he was a popstar and a deserving winner. One of his best performances last year that showed amazing vocals with emotion and personality. He got his second standing ovation in a row with this performance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j93WvstotJ4 |

I think they do make more of an effort to mentor people when they leave the show than X factor does though. Another point - a lot of the contestants in the BBC shows were already working within the industry when they applied to be on the shows. So they tended to be much more proficient when it came to performing than a lot of X-Factor contestants are. I don't recall any of the 'bottom two' people in the BBC shows losing it in the sing-offs and all the group songs were performed live, not mimed. Also, the judging panels were, on the whole, pretty good (and with no real inter-judge 'feuding'). And it was always about the contestants, not the judges, which is how it should be. |

She was too irritating to win and her singing wasn't as good as people's rose tinted glasses are showing, IMO.

I was really surprised Stacey didn't get a recording contract though, yet Olly got one. |

On the back of that, his album came in at number 3 in the charts, dropped to 20 after a week, and 40 a week later. I appreciate that the charts ain't what they used to be, but this isn't great.
It's too early yet for Joe and there are some great things for him in the future looks like it. ![]() But in general, it is clear that Joe is not the one to blame if the album is not a success. Syco has clearly mismanaged Joe (like Shayne as well) - Lack of promo compared to Alex, Leona, and even Olly; lack of support with the Global block on Joe because of the Wanted album out at the same time; not giving him much guidance and advice as a young artist; etc. It's ridiculous how they have left Joe to fend for himself. |

For some reason the judges hated Stacey staying in one place and barely moving every performance, yet Rebecca gets away almost scot-free.
Oh, yeah, sorry, I forgot. Stacey wasn't mentored by Queen Cheryl. |

I think Joe is going to have a very successful career, but I don't see him as a popstar. I think he is alot more suited to musical theatre and could have a fantastic career on the West End and Broadway.
