The problem for Cher is that 80-90% of the viewing public dislike her- she has a core fan base and they will (repeatedly) vote for her and (perhaps) buy her singles so she will have a career-

However in terms of this show you need broad appeal across different demographics to win- apart from her die hard fans she is not going to pick up casual voters by throwing her toys out of the pram every time something doesn't go her way

I feel a little sorry for Cher. Simon and Cheryl have allowed her to be built up into something she isn't or could never cope with. Whether her stint on X-Factor ends tonight or in the early stages of the final, going back to her normal life, no pampering, she is going to feel it very hard.
