...when they obviously dislike it so much?

Reading some of the threads on here it appears that many people hate this programme, dislike the way it is organised, have no time for any of the judges, can't bear listening to any of the contestants, hate all reality TV and anybody involved in it and think anybody who does watch and enjoy it as a purely entertainment show for a Saturday evening must be brain dead, children, housewives, thick, gullible, easily influenced etc.

So I am wondering why the people who dislike it intensely and with such passion continue to watch it and tell us over and over again why they hate it and why we should hate it too?

Because slagging it off is the best part. Simples.

I thought so. Although you have to watch it to slag it off and that means benefiting Mr Cowell, such a dilemma.

You're still interested enough to watch part of it and post on here though.

You are an exception as your wife chains you to the sofa and then sits on you so you have to watch and don't have any alternative.

I fall into the housewives category but watching the Xfactor occasionally is my only slip into the murky world of reality TV.
And I only watched this series of Xfactor because I enjoyed Wagner.

It's okay, you dont have to justify it. Just watch it and enjoy it, it's not illegal.

I think if the BBC brought out a similar sort of 'talent' show next year and scheduled it for the same time, then many people would possibly turn over and choose that as their first choice instead of X-Factor.

This year's series of XF has clearly annoyed a great many people.

I'm no longer watching

I come on here to talk to likeminded people - loads of people slag it off and so I enjoy slagging it off with them. Nothing wrong with that.

Nothing wrong at all, I just wondered why and you have explained.

I LOVE the X Factor. Part of the fun of the x factor season is coming on DS to slag it off and complain at all the manipulation

Those who TRULY hate it or are not interested don't watch.

Bingo.

You can see through the show, the manipulation, the 'angle' very easily. It's about as opaque as a sheet of glass.

But it's bloody entertaining to whine about.

Am I benefiting Cowell by watching it? I'm not hugely sure I am. I would be if I voted or bought any of the crap the contestants release - I don't.

Cowell is a made man now so anything he does is going to be considered a success. You know his shows are going to get OK ratings so one person tuning out isn't going to change anything.

I dont dislike it.

Its funny, but as an adult, I find I can look reasonably objectively at the performances, and criticise some of them without disliking either the people involved or the show itself.

Apparently not liking someone singing should make ma a 'hater' , of them and the show.

I'm not sure how that works.

I have no idea why I watch this truely awful program, I think I'll give it another week or so to see if it improves and if not I'll stop watching it for a few months then give it another chance maybe.
