Did Simon say the words verbal contract last night???

Did I hear right, and Simon said that this is a verbal contract when they was on about Cher and Cheryl??? On the Xtra Factor.

If so aint that against the rules of X factor eg having a recording contract. Bit silly of Simon to say this is so imo.

Eh?

Simon said that if Cher won, Cheryl would do a track with her. What has that got to do with rules?

No I sure he said this is a verbal contract right there and then. And its was nothing about her winning.

Anyone got a vid of what was said so we can sort this out plz.

It makes little difference what he said anyway, it isn't up to him what Cheryl does as she isn't signed with him.

So he mugging people to spend their money on voting when he knows he going to sign her anyway.

Ouch.

I found it interesting that Cheryl seemed quite reluctant to agree to working with Cher and only agreed after Simon practically forced her into it. I think Simon suspected Cheryl might renege on it so that's why he "joked" they had a verbal contract.

I think the OP has a point as it happens.

He didnt sound like he was joking to me and not sure if he got Cheryl by the tail now as a verbal contract can be just as legally binding as a writen one.

That might be so, but there is no contract because Cheryl did not agree to it - and nor did her record label.

In order for a verbal agreement to be legally binding the agreement must have reached completeness.

This means that all terms and conditions have been reached and agreed regarding services and terms of pay.

So just because Simon says its a verbal agreement, both parties will have had to agree terms.

He was joking. But got the impression that Cheryl will still mentor Cher after all of this is over. Plus the connection with will i am she might get to work with her. Happy that the album discussion is almost a given. Like nobody is doubting Cher will make an album which is uplifting since she might leave tonight.

The xtra factor was filled with love for Cheryl. It was refreshing not seeing her get insulted by the callers for a change.

But we need a video to find out what was really said.

It was just banter

Cheryl, contrary to popular opinion, doesn't need to do anything that Simon wants. So the whole 'Cheryl will definitely sing with Cher' was just a lot of hot-air, as was the mention of 'verbal contract'

Watch from 16 minutes in.

There was no contract and she did not agree. It is not up to Cheryl anyway.

It was (very clearly) just banter.

No reason to be sad it appears Cher will get a recording contract whether she wins or not. It seems the x-factor is just some 10 week long advert to expose the acts that Simon favours, the public vote is just an inconvenience to Simon, albeit a profitable one.
