Hello

This year Christmas UK's Facebook and Twitter feeds will be accompanied by a new website!

Although it'll mainly be a mirror of the content that's on its Facebook page, there will be a few extra features and website-only content. Is there anything in particular you'd like to see on it?

Only 277 days to go...

I know it's not one of the big ones announcement-wise, but I really enjoyed the first series and I think a Christmas special would be great!

Always makes me smile when this thread pops back to the top of the Broadcasting forum...such a shame that Radio Times is ruined nowadays. Last year will definitely be my last one, TV & Satellite Week for me only this year, although, I'm still interested in what's on the cover.

An Idiot Abroad 3 will be split into two Christmas specials apparently:

From Wikipedia:
Quote:
“Despite saying that there will not be a third series Gervais will produce a Christmas special which was originally supposed to star Karl and Warwick Davis travel round England on a bike together, this is what Karl agreed to return for. It has now been put into 2 parts, and he has tricked Karl once again as it will now feature them abroad on a bike. As of February 2012 pre-production has started with Karl and Warwick. Gervais has said "We started planning the route for An Idiot Abroad 3: The Short Way Round, this week. It's only a two-part special but we've decided to make it a bit more global as opposed to "around Kent for a few days, Karl is starting to regret it already."”

And this is from the sky website:

Quote:
“An Idiot Abroad is coming back - and this time Karl has a friend joining him, as Warwick Davis joins him for a Short Way Round.

After sending Karl Pilkington to see the Seven Wonders, and then on a journey of a lifetime to experience the ultimate ‘Things To Do Before You Die’, Ricky Gervais has now persuaded Karl to embark on an epic journey following the footsteps of famous explorer Marco Polo from Italy to China.

But this time, to help Karl with the loneliness of being away from home, Ricky’s arranged for his mate, Warwick Davis, to keep him company.

Ricky Gervais said: “Karl once said to me that opposites attract. Warwick Davis is sociable, hardworking and never complains. They should get along fine.”

Karl Pilkington added: “I don't know how it will work out. Honestly. Edmund Hillary had that Tenzing fella, Ben Fogle had James Cracknell. I've been given an Ewok.”

Warwick Davis said: "I'll be following in the footsteps of Marco Polo who, on his deathbed, said: 'I did not write half of what I saw, for I knew I would not be believed.' That’s pretty much what I thought after I first met Karl."

Over the course of a 5000 mile journey from Venice to Eastern Europe, India and China, An Idiot Abroad: The Short Way Round will follow Karl and Warwick as they get stuck into different cultures and traditions, illuminated by Karl’s trademark observations about the world and Warwick’s varying experiences as a little person in different countries.

Celia Taylor commented: “An Idiot Abroad has been a huge success for Sky 1 HD and we are thrilled that Karl is back on the channel for The Short Way Round, which with the addition of the brilliant Warwick Davis, looks set to be the most entertaining yet.”

The second series of An Idiot Abroad was recently nominated for a BAFTA® Television Award, adding to previous nods from the British Comedy, National Television, Royal Television Society, Broadcast and Broadcasting Press Guild awards.”

Really looking forward to the new site! I realise I probably shouldn't be concerned with all things Christmassy before we've even had a summer, but these days I think I enjoy the build-up just as much if not more than when it's upon us. It'll be good to have something else to check in on periodically as well as this forum and claires_dad's website

I suspect the BBC may show:

The Sorcerers Apprentice
A Christmas Carol
UP!
Alice in Wonderland
The Prince of Persia

Not sure about ITV though. Some years they make the effort, some years they don't.

Confirmed by Alan Davies on twitter earlier this morning that they won't be a new Jonathan Creek for Christmas.

There won't be a new Jonathan Creek for Cristmas and we are not filming in September. If we do start making a new one I will let you know.

200 days to Christmas

I have just opened up the new Christmas UK website which contains everything that was posted up on the Facebook and Twitter feeds, plus added a search engine and a new feature (a round-up of The 12 Ads Of Christmas 2011).

There's also a mobile phone version which I'd like your feedback on as I have no idea what people expect from mobile versions of websites! There's also an RSS feed if you want to be automatically alerted when there's a new update on the site.

This is just the first version of the website - next up are comments and ratings systems, together with photo albums. There's a message form on the website to send me feedback on, and I'd love to know what you think of it all!
